For Your Grammy® Consideration: Laila Biali - Wintersongs

On November 7, just one week before releasing her latest single, Joy To The World, the multi-award winning Canadian artist LAILA BIALI took her place alongside global icons receiving her first GRAMMY nomination for "Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album." Her album, Wintersongs, was nominated alongside heavy hitters Lady Gaga, Elton John & Brandi Carlile, Barbra Streisand, Jennifer Hudson and Laufey.

Wintersongs was inspired by and written at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity, and this record is very much rooted in that landscape. She wrote much of it during a winter residency in the Rockies, working from a quiet cabin surrounded by snow covered mountains. The music reflects that environment with a cinematic sweep: dawn light on peaks, drifting snow, shifting wind and the quiet expansiveness of winter in Banff.

What is remarkable is that her team submitted the album in the jazz category, yet the Recording Academy moved it into Traditional Pop. That decision placed her directly beside global icons and increased the visibility of this project overnight. Billboard recently highlighted how influential this category has become, making her nomination even more noteworthy.
