Four new bands confirmed for Summer Breeze
Four new additions have been made to the Summer Breeze line-up:
Inquisition
Attention, black metal fans! Summer Breeze is the only German festival in 2015 to present you this rare highlight: INQUISITION will shake SUMMER BREEZE to its very foundations!
The Colombian duo, who are currently based in the USA, are one of the few bands still active in the black metal scene who haven't lost their cult status due to half-arsed releases and unmotivated, sub-par live performances. This makes INQUISITON – who have been active since 1988 – deserving of the utmost respect. The same has to be said about their musical straightness, because even their latest album, 2013's 'Obscure Verses For The Multiverse', is the sound of a band absolutely unwilling to compromise. Cold, evil riffing, fast machine gun drums and vocals that are nothing but hateful snarls make the blood freeze in your veins. Even big genre icons such as Immortal and Marduk have a hard time creating such an unbelievably malicious frostiness nowadays, which in 2015 makes INQUISITION more relevant for the scene than ever.
Ektomorf
The Hungarians are a classic example of how the metal press couldn't be more wrong. Written off as a Sepultura/Soulfly clone rather than respected from the beginning of their career, Zoltan Farkas and Co. have managed to build a respectable fan base despite all the negative criticism, and their followers regularly go insane to their groovy, yet destructive songs at their sweat-drenched shows. And so it will happen at SUMMER BREEZE 2015, because EKTOMORF haven't lost one bit of their impact over the years, something their latest album 'Retribution' only confirms. There are few bands who can increase the effect of the massive riffs and destructive grooves on their albums exponentially in a live situation. Without a doubt, EKTOMORF are one of them!
Suicide Silence
For no band it's easy to get over the death of a frontman who is also face of the band, fan darling and scene icon. But the fact that, after the tragic death of singer Mitch Lucker, SUICIDE SILENCE managed to pick themselves up so quickly and deliver a powerful new album titled 'You Can't Stop Me' (the title says it all), almost as an act of liberation, deserves nothing but respect.
Even though the vocals of Lucker's successor Eddie Hermida draw the band's sound a little closer to death metal and away from hardcore, the instrumentation will still please all fans of the most extreme core variations. With a progressive touch at times, but always with plenty of power and groove, the Americans hit us right in the face with their eruptions of anger. So you can't really thank SUICIDE SILENCE enough not to let the grief eat away at them from the inside, but to channel all the negative feelings into something productive In order to overcome them. This should serve everyone as an inspiration! Please give the guys a loud welcome at their first-ever SUMMER BREEZE appearance!
Hackneyed
They are true children of SUMMER BREEZE, since they hail from Abtsgmünd and have grown alongside the festival: HACKNEYED.
This means the Swabian boys virtually grew up on death metal, which is why at their 2008 debut, when all of the band members were still teenagers, they left large parts of the competition in the dust. And during the further course of their career, HACKNEYED surely haven't got worse, as they proved last year on the Pain Stage when they replaced Of Mice & Men at the last minute and still destroyed everything. This is our way to thank them for their help by inviting them again in 2015. By then, they will already have their new album out, and the first single (see the YouTube link on this page) gives hope for big things coming our way. Have fun with our #1 local heroes!
