Funkerman and Sama Revive Electro Classic With “Keep Up” on Gotta Move

House powerhouses Funkerman and Sama (US) team up to release their new single, “Keep Up” via Insomniac's Gotta Move. The track is a contemporary interpretation that reprises Funkerman's international club favorite "Speed Up" from 2007, reliving the magic of the track for a new generation.

Breda-born Funkerman is a house music mainstay from the Netherlands, a beloved Dutch producer and co-founder of acclaimed Flamingo Recordings - both entities responsible for a few of the most dancefloor-defining records to surface since the early 2000s.

Born in Baghdad, Sama is a Washington D.C.-based producer fluent in an array of house and techno - a multicultural exchange of her Middle Eastern heritage and a wealth of experiences of years residing throughout Morocco, South Africa and more.

“Keep Up”shares the magic behind the iconic vocals that have appeared across countless remixes, bootlegs, and re-releases of “Speed Up” over the past two decades. The sultry falsetto hooks are chopped and looped with precision, cutting through the mix as elastic basslines, vintage synth stabs, vocal accents, and fast-paced percussion keep the track moving forward.

Funkerman’s original track has clocked in 3.9M streams to date and reached the Top 100 of the UK Singles Chart.

Sama previously graced Insomniac's IN / ROTATION sub-label with her track "Esperanzia" on the 'ROTATE Vol. 15' compilation album, earning radio support from Tiësto. She's released music with Serve Cold, Sofiya Nzau, Nawe (BR), as well as a remix of Cassian's "A Feeling I Miss," earning tastemaker support from Solomun, Chris Lake, Adriatique, Black Coffee, Carl Cox, Keinemusik, CamelPhat.

She is providing support for HUGEL at Hï Ibiza and Echostage, and is gearing up for her India Tour in September. Sama is a storyteller at her core, her music journalism resume includes BBC News, Voice of America, and hosting a TEDx talk at Oxford.
