Goldenvoice Reveals First Look At Head Trip Stage Concept Designed by High Scream
Goldenvoice has revealed the first look at High Scream’s stage design for Head Trip, the one-time-only event taking over the Empire Polo Club in Indio this October. Built for two nights, one stage and a lineup assembled just this once, the production was conceived to create something that could only exist here.
Romain Pissenem, founder of creative production company High Scream, has spent more than two decades shaping electronic music experiences at scale. Beginning as a show director across theater and television, he went on to help redefine the modern club experience through UNVRS, Ushuaïa Ibiza and Hï Ibiza, alongside major arena, stadium and cultural spectacles including the Paris 2024 Olympic Games closing ceremony, Madison Square Garden and the Great Pyramids of Giza. That experience made him a natural fit for the ambition behind Head Trip.
The Empire Polo Club itself became a starting point for the design. Pissenem wanted the structure to feel almost science-fictional, as though something had landed in the desert, while still belonging to the landscape around it. Reflective materials catch the desert light and palm trees, while the stage structure itself draws on the Airstreams Pissenem remembered from a visit to the venue for Coachella years earlier. Rather than separating screens, lighting, video and architecture, High Scream has built them into one visual system.
That system extends across the festival floor. Lighting and lasers use the site’s infrastructure to create what Pissenem describes as a forest of light, with metallic structures functioning almost like electronic trees. The result is a shared visual experience that places fans inside the show wherever they are in the crowd, while giving each artist the freedom to bring their own visual identity into the wider production.
Head Trip takes place October 10-11 at the Empire Polo Club with two nights, one stage and no overlapping sets. Saturday features Calvin Harris, FISHER B2B Chris Lake present Under Construction, Peggy Gou B2B Four Tet and Seth Troxler B2B Ben Sterling. Sunday features Swedish House Mafia, Skrillex, Dom Dolla B2B KETTAMA, The Blessed Madonna and DJ Harvey. Floating Points’ Sunflower Sound System will also make its US debut at Head Trip and run throughout the weekend.
