Gopher release debut album “Tunnel Buddies”; new video out now

Gopher is a two-piece project from Australia built around a mix of grind, metal and electronic elements. The band leans into exaggerated storytelling and chaotic energy, shaping a debut that doesn’t take itself too seriously while still hitting hard musically.

Tunnel Buddies pulls together blast beats, heavy riffs and synth-driven passages, moving between grind and death/slam textures while keeping a strong groove underneath. Tracks shift quickly between aggression and more playful, almost club-like sections, reflecting the band’s mix of influences and approach to songwriting.

The record introduces Gopher’s core duo, Ernie Bingo on vocals and Ned Smelly on guitars, backed by a sound that blends heaviness with a more irreverent tone. Songs like “Kupu Kupu Malam” show that contrast clearly, opening in one direction before switching into something much heavier and more direct.
