Hakan unveils new single/video 'My New Team'

Bergamo-based punk/power pop trio Hakan returns with "My New Team", the first single/video taken from their fifth album out in December 2026 on a handful of indie labels: Mom's Basement Records (USA), Shield Recordings (The Netherlands), Take The City Records (Spain) and Rockstar Records (Germany).

The song is about alcohol-fueled nights through Kraków, moving through the city's darker nightlife and into the intense world of football ultras - the hardcore supporter culture whose identity is built around club loyalty, confrontation, rivalry, scarves, rituals... In "My New Team", the band encounters an ultras leader who hands them a scarf as if it were a relic - a kind of initiation into a world that is simultaneously crazy, dangerous, and strangely fascinating. It's classic Hakan, drawing from the raw energy of UK punk (from the Buzzcocks to Bad Nerves) and connecting to the punk/garage scene the band invests today in Italy (such as Mega and Deaf Lingo).

Hakan explains: "We chose this song as both the first single and the album opener because it holds a special place in the story of the upcoming record: it was the first song we wrote for it. It also captures the attitude of Hakan - very energetic and unapologetically "in your face". It felt like the best calling card for what the band is about."

About Hakan

Hakan formed in Bergamo in 2014, when guitarist Andrea Carminati, bassist Andrea Facheris and drummer Marco Facheris got together with a shared taste for speed, hooks and brilliantly stupid lyrics. All three contribute vocals and songwriting, giving the band that restless, collective feel that runs through their records. With four albums under their belt, and a fifth on the way, Hakan have taken their particular brand of noise across Europe, as well as to the USA, Canada and Turkey.

Trying to pin Hakan down to a single genre is probably missing the point. Their sound lives somewhere in the sweet spot between punk, power pop and garage - all played with just the right amount of recklessness. The songs are short, sharp and lightning-fast, rarely making it past two minutes. Double vocals, infectious choruses, flat guitars, many greetings: everything is here.

Some might say Hakan is Bergamo’s - perhaps even Italy’s - number one garage-punk band. Think early Marked Men with a snottier edge, Radioactivity, Kidnappers, and even Mind Spiders. The band has a lot of common with the Texas bands: the same taste for acidic, melancholic melodies, and the unhealthy obsession with playing pop-punk a thousand miles an hour. But comparisons only get you so far. Hakan have their own thing going on: the songs are frantic but never sloppy, catchy without ever becoming clean, and stupid without ever being boring. They don’t miss a beat, and thankfully, they don’t seem particularly interested in slowing down.
