Steven Wilson releases new single On Chapel Slope

Steven Wilson has released a new track from his forthcoming ninth album. On Chapel Slope is out today (2nd October 2026) and comes from Requiem For A Village, due for release on Fiction on 6th November 2026.

Starting with a one-note scratch from a lone violin, On Chapel Slope floats in on a guitar line that melts like an invite to a seance, a vocal that moves through life, death and rebirth and a chant that threatens to envelope everything around it. An atmospheric, enveloping companion to the recently released title track’s fervent introduction to the village itself, On Chapel Slope sits right at the beating heart of Steven Wilson’s phenomenal forthcoming album.

Steven Wilson’s new album is due in November and takes a very different path from his 2025 classic The Overview. Set in a Wicker Man landscape where the paintings of Stanley Spencer hang in the local art gallery, the stories of M. R. James and Algernon Blackwood sit on the shelves of the public library, and the children of the stones play in the market square, Requiem For A Village is a sepia-toned snapshot of a hidden neverland, and a 54-minute piece of cinema for the ears.
