Hatihati is the latest artist signing on DEEWEE
DEEWEE, the boutique label founded by David and Stephen Dewaele (Soulwax/2manydjs), is proud to announce the signing of HATIHATI and the release of their debut 12”, Whip It / Head, arriving March 13, 2026.
After teasing pre release performances at DEEWEE’s 2025 Halloween event, DEEWEEKEND, and a support slot on Soulwax’s acclaimed “All Systems Are Lying” tour, HATIHATI steps out of the shadows.
The music of HATIHATI is inseparable from the geography of its birth. Conceived during a nomadic period across the Mediterranean, the tracks were forged on buses, ferries, and in borrowed rooms.
The aesthetic is strikingly cinematic: picture a burning car on a roadside in southern Crete, its tape-deck speakers screaming against a "metallic sunrise." It is music made with the vibration of travel still in the body—an exploration of "fragmented muscle memory" set against the rugged backdrop of the Cretan mountains.
What sets HATIHATI apart is their rejection of traditional sampling in favor of rigorous synthesis. Central to their process is "Dear User," an ever-evolving library of sounds created by the duo.
While HATIHATI is a new name, Bart Demey and Tania Gallagher are seasoned creators. Growing up just 30 km apart, they spent their youth experimenting with electronics independently before merging their visions ten years ago.
Their multidisciplinary background includes a stint as music supervisors for the avant-garde fashion label Kokon to Zai, led by Marjan Pejoski (the designer behind Björk’s iconic swan dress). This intersection of visual flair and technical precision is evident in the polished, yet raw, energy of Whip It / Head.
"There are a lot of small sounds in HATIHATI tracks that are recreations of everyday situations," the band explains. "Instead of sampling, we recreate those sounds, from nature or a kitchen, through synthesis. It’s become a living, growing organism."
