Heather Nova releases new single "In The Path of Hurricanes" alongside new BE tour dates
Heather Nova releases her new single, “In the Path Of Hurricanes” today. The song has a driving sonic landscape reminiscent of The War on Drugs. It's a song about the intoxicating feeling of longing that comes when you feel chemistry with someone, but aren’t sure if it’s all in your head.
The song is rich in metaphor and imagery from the natural world of her island home, Bermuda - the beauty of a subtropical island that also comes with the reality of often being right in the path of hurricanes. She sings: “I live in the path of hurricanes / following the light / barefoot dancing / drinking the rain”.
“In The Path Of Hurricanes” follows the anticipation surrounding Nova’s forthcoming album “THE ORCHARD,” to bereleased on October 30th 2026 via V2 Records—her 14th album.
A Journey Back to Hope and Light
Heather Nova first broke through in the early 1990s with her international hit “Walk This World,” a song that carriedher voice across Europe and North America to Japan and Australia—sparking years of touring around the globe. Sincethen, she has remained steadfastly committed to writing, recording, and performing, with “THE ORCHARD” standing asa landmark entry in her ongoing creative story.
An album of melodic strength and poetic imagery, THE ORCHARD dives deep emotionally, yet its overriding feeling isone of hope, light, and possibility—exactly what we need in troubled times. While writing the record, Nova discovered a truth about the power of repetition:
“In the middle of writing this album I realized something—that songs are in fact a form of manifestation. An artist sings their songs over and over while recording, and then every night on tour. Whatever we do on repeat we start to embody, to become. Similar to how mantras are chanted or prayers are recited, that repetition has power. I wanted to be conscious of this element as I wrote...”
She continues: “...still mining the depths of raw emotion and truth... but also being sure to tap into the light, the hope, the sense of possibility that is always there in all of us if we can uncover it. I hope these songs will help others access that hope too.”
Recorded in London with Tim Bran
THE ORCHARD was recorded in London with producer Tim Bran, following Nova’s instinct to work together afterhearing the sound he achieved with Haevn and London Grammar. Recorded over six weeks last winter, largelybetween Nova and Bran, the album was crafted with an authentic, natural contemporary edge—built through intensecreative back-and-forth in a focused studio partnership.
Nova describes the process warmly: walking to the studio through London rain, then disappearing for hours intorecording—until what would become THE ORCHARD was complete.
