Hide The Knives release 'Silence The Youth' on Oct 27

Home is where the heart is. And if home is Hide the Knives, then the heart must surely be Glen Gilbert. The charismatic singer was the last man standing when all members of Hide the Knives decided to jump ship in 2010, just one year after the breakthrough with their debut album Savior for Sale. Even though the album went straight up to number one in the hard rock-list and the single Holy Banner made the A-list on Bandit Rock.

Now, fast forward to 2014, and Glen has decided to let Hide the Knives live again. And not a minute too soon. The world has missed wearing its feelings like a too tight t-shirt on a hot sweaty dance floor. Naked reality poems spooning with shout it out loud-choruses don’t come in bundles, so when they do come, cherish. The new album is called Silence the Youth and is out this October. There’s a darker, heavier tone to the style of Hide the Knives anno 2014. The band is also a rawer, yet tighter and more focused unit.

For those of us who felt left, wandering in the desert without a map, four years ago when the band broke up – with Silence the Youth, it is as if a long march has come to an end. We are home. For home is where the heart is.
