High Hi releases 'Noonday Demon Deluxe'

With 'Noonday Demon', released earlier this year, High Hi had already opened up a new space within their sonic universe. Now, the Belgian darkpop trio returns with a deluxe edition of their fourth album, expanded with five new tracks that push its boundaries a little further and reveal new shades of the record.

At the heart of the new edition is 'Days on Days on Days', a striking return to the essentials. Anne-Sophie Ooghe’s voice, fragile and almost entirely exposed, rests on a sparse guitar arrangement. Nothing feels excessive: no grand production, no unnecessary layers. Just space, silence and whatever remains when everything else falls away.

With the new single, High Hi reveals a more intimate side of themselves, one that has rarely been heard before. On 'Noonday Demon', the band moves effortlessly between indie rock and post-punk, shoegaze and powerpop, with electronic textures woven into the mix. Here, by contrast, everything is about restraint. 'Days on Days on Days' moves quietly, wrapped in a luminous melancholy, evoking a new generation of independent singer-songwriters who have turned vulnerability into a strength — from Phoebe Bridgers to Adrianne Lenker. In the background, there are also echoes of Joni Mitchell and Nick Drake.

The song seems to erase the distance between listener and emotion. Anne-Sophie Ooghe’s voice has rarely sounded this vulnerable, while the guitar remains understated, doing little more than keeping the song afloat. This is High Hi at their most stripped-back, but perhaps also at their most human.

The deluxe edition also includes new versions of 'Running' and 'Arrival', alongside two live recordings captured during High Hi’s performance at Rock Werchter 2026. A way of extending 'Noonday Demon' beyond its original form, somewhere between intimate reinterpretation and raw live energy.

After a summer that took them to Rock Werchter, Cactus Festival, Rock Olmen, Lokerse Feesten and Suikerrock, High Hi will return to the road this autumn, bringing their music back to clubs across Belgium and the Netherlands.
