I Love Techno: 7 new names

Less than 100 days remain until Belgium’s biggest indoor party takes place: I Love Techno 2014! To start off this countdown on the right foot, we have seven brand new names that will challenge your feeling for rhythm: Duke Dumont, Dave Clarke, Jamie Jones, The Advent, Marco Bailey, Rødhåd and Kr!z.

The bill is shaping up very nicely, with previously announced acts such as Underworld, Gesaffelstein B2B Brodinski, Klangkarussell, Jeff Mills, Len Faki, Clean Bandit, Jimmy Edgar, DJ Rush and Paula Temple. And that’s not all, as we will be adding some more of the good stuff soon! Don’t wait too long ordering your tickets for I Love Techno on the 8th of November in Ghent, you don’t want to miss this one!

I Love Techno is looking forward to welcoming DUKE DUMONT on stage. It will be the first time that he and his live band honour our country with their presence. Until 2012 the Brit was mainly known as the ‘producer’s producer’. Two EPs full of techno, UK garage & house on Tiga’s Turbo label brought about a few changes. The major breakthrough came with ‘Need U (100%)’ featuring A*M*E, on his own Blasé Boys Club label and hit singles such as ‘I Got U’ and ‘Won’t Look Back’. Duke Dumont’s debut album will be released at the start of February.

DAVE CLARKE needs no introduction. An exceptional DJ, curator of different dance stages, radio producer, hardworking purist, revolutionary futurist and a fan of punk, electro and new wave. Clarke was one of the first to welcome the digital revolution. He is ‘the baron of techno’ and his ‘Red’ EPs and debut album ‘Archive One’ are absolute classics in the techno-genre. His re-release of ‘Wisdom To The Wise’ came out on Boysnoize Records with remixes by, amongst others, Boys Noize and Marcel Dettmann. The start of his latest project ‘Unsubscribe’ is also arousing a lot of interest. Dave Clarke is more present than ever.

In 2011 the influential Resident Advisor voted JAMIE JONES the best DJ in the world. He is generally considered to be the leader of ‘the new sound of house’ and praised for his live band Hot Natured, his label Hot Creations and his Paradise events. In the space of less than 10 years he has achieved the status of superstar DJ and has evolved from minimal techno to a warmer, deeper and more melodic sound.

For the past 20 years THE ADVENT has been playing a major role in the development of the techno-scene. Cisco Fereira started out as an engineer for, amongst others, Fingers Inc, Marshall Jefferson and Derrick May. Releases on labels such as R&S, Tresor and DJ Gigolos followed. The Advent is one of the most powerful live acts in the genre.

There will be a liberal serving of home-grown talent at I Love Techno too. Although appearances can be deceptive in the case of MARCO BAILEY; the man is constantly travelling the world. Fellow DJs – such as Carl Cox – have a great deal of admiration for him. Bailey has already been at all the major international dance events. Bedrock, Intec and Drumcode are just a few labels he has been released on.

Another home-grown talent to be reckoned with is KR!Z. He is the resident DJ on the Kozzmozz events and along with Token runs one of the most respected techno labels of the moment. His new label compilation will be released in the autumn and fans are already impatiently awaiting its release.

I Love Techno keeps the finger on the pulse and is particularly interested in spotting talent that is on the verge of making it big. Be sure not to miss RØDHÅD from Berlin, a very popular guest at the Berghain techno institute. You can count on Rødhåd for entrancing dub techno.
