Illuminine releases Catch The Night In Marble (feat. Vincent Coomans), second single of upcoming album #4
When Belgian guitarist and producer Kevin Imbrechts first released his minimalist instrumental songs on his debut album ‘#1’ in 2015, he had no idea that his music would launch a global project from his living room at home. "#1" was followed by the albums ‘#2’ and ‘#3’ and after more than 60 international collaborations with the most renowned artists and over 100 million streams, Illuminine is one of the most successful acts in the genre.
‘Catch The Night In Marble’ featuring Belgian noir folk vocalist Vincent Coomans is the second single taken from the new Illuminine “#4” album, which will be released on October 20, 2023 (read here the releasesheet for #4). The song perfectly describes the melancholic feeling when standing on the beach after a hot day at the end of the summer and the sun has a beautiful warm red orange colour while disappearing in the sea. It’s a peaceful sad indie folk song with an easy going acoustic guitar riddle and beautiful soft vulnerable vocal harmonies by Vincent Coomans.
'Catch The Night In Marble' describes the melancholic feeling that overtakes you after a warm summer day at the end of summer. You see a beautiful red-orange-warm sun disappearing into the sea from the beach.
What moment would you capture in your marble book? Poet Siel Verhanneman asks this question to her friend Vincent Coomans while they stand together in front of 'A Night Enclosed In Marble', a visual work of art by the Lebanese artist Charbel-Joseph H. Boutros. In 'Catch the Night in Marble', Vincent Coomans captures a night of running naked into the sea at a moment between two lockdowns when suddenly everything was possible again. In a poetic, sensory written text you can taste the salty sea, feel the texture of the grains of sand, the melancholy of a wonderful night and an increasingly sinking moon. An escape from time and a frenetic attempt to capture it in matter. Sung almost soundlessly to the music of Illuminine.
Kevin Imberechts, founder of Illuminine, about 'Catch The Night In Marble': “I remember writing this song after a long, warm late summer day. It was then unclear whether the corona measures would be relaxed in view of the winter. While everyone craved for a feeling of freedom and exuberance, I felt just the opposite. I went through a lesser period and just needed the simplicity and the small universe of the corona bubbles. At that moment a very strong feeling of melancholy came over me. I remember that guitar tune flowed out of my hands without thinking. To be on the safe side, I quickly recorded the number on my cell phone. Only when I heard Vincent Coomans for the first time a few weeks later on the radio program duyster. all the puzzle pieces in my head fell together. Immediately I thought his warm voice and feel would fit that guitar track perfectly. So happened. Vincent perfectly summarizes that one moment with his beautiful words and vocal line.”
