Indian electronic artist I-ZEN shares new single featuring the late legendary Indian mandolin player U. Srinivas

Indian electronic artist I-ZEN is ready to bring the sounds of India to the international dance floor. I-ZEN welcomes us to his world with “LINEAR” featuring legendary Indian mandolin player U. Srinivas, a work that bridges India’s rich musical traditions with electronic music, while exploring perception, identity and the world beyond what we believe to be real.

“LINEAR” is the culmination of a years-long creative process that began when Srinivas entered the studio, recorded a series of musical phrases and ideas, and left the material with I-ZEN to develop. What followed was not a quick collaboration, but years of production, experimentation and refinement as I-ZEN shaped those recordings into “LINEAR” and considered how to build a contemporary electronic track around the work of one of India’s most celebrated instrumentalists.

That responsibility became an important part of the process. Rather than attempting to recreate Srinivas digitally, I-ZEN made the deliberate decision not to use AI to recreate his likeness for the track’s visual world, choosing instead to preserve the integrity of his contribution and legacy while allowing the music itself to remain at the center of the story.

“LINEAR” introduces the sonic and conceptual world of I-ZEN, with more expansion on that world coming soon in a larger work. I-ZEN draws from trance, techno and darker psytrance alongside influences ranging from The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, Moby and Metallica to Goa trance, Infected Mushroom, Paul van Dyk and Armin van Buuren. Across the album, some tracks lean deeply into Indian instrumentation and musical traditions, while others move into more contemporary electronic territory.

That range is intentional. For I-ZEN, electronic music provides a way to introduce younger and international audiences to the breadth of India’s musical culture beyond the familiar framework of Bollywood. His long-term vision includes working with musicians from different regions of the country and bringing those diverse traditions into a global electronic context.

With “LINEAR,” I-ZEN begins introducing an album built not around a single definition of Indian electronic music, but around the idea that tradition, technology, identity and perception can coexist - and that electronic music can be a vehicle for discovering what lies beyond the familiar.
