The latest slab of heaviness from Blues Funeral Recordings arrives this week, and if you haven't already had the chance to consider why is a record you'll be stoked to discover, let me try to pique your aural interest:

Om Moksha Ritam is an eastern mantra, but it's also the title of the debut from INSOMNIAC, Atlanta's new players in the realm of towering heavy psychedelia. It's not the easiest type of heavy rock to swing, where head-nodding riff acolytes and mind-drifting astral travelers meet to follow transcendent rhythms into the beyond.

When it's right, though, it feels significant, important and vast.

Om Moksha Ritam doesn't feel like a first album, but something more timeless, as though INSOMNIAC are plugged straight into the thrumming pulse of the universe - it's always been here, and will continue on into eternity.
