Introducing Goo, New Open Tab Single, "Winter is Over" Out Now
Today, Fire Talk Records' imprint Open Tab has released a new track from Brooklyn-based artist Goo. Having already carved out a presence within New York’s local music scene through frequent gigging & the recent release of LP 'Return to the Garden', vocalist Beck Zegans assumes solo duties with new single, “Winter is Over”. "Winter is Over" continues the band’s penchant for moody and entrancing homespun indie, and here Zegan’s vocals are awash with romantic hues that feel permanently set in twilight. Building on the inventive tapestry of slow-core indie and psychedelia that made up their debut, this new track perfectly encapsulates the sentimentality and darkness that comes with the end of another year, with a heady warmth that strikes a delicate balance between dreamy ambiance and fleeting nostalgia.
Beck notes: "Winter Is Over is a lockdown escapist fantasy and strange aspirational winter jam. It’s a letter to a friend in which I propose quitting our jobs, taking up smoking, and fleeing the city by sailing the Atlantic ocean at dawn.”
Listen to Goo's "Winter is Over" & Artist Mix
"Goo" follows Open Tab's string of launch singles including "song of the year contender" (Paste) "I Am The Car" by Fake Fruit, "The Matador" by Advertisement, and "Spiral in Houston" by Frances Chang. Highlighting one previously unreleased track from an artist monthly, each Open Tab release will also encapsulate a short Q&A profile and mix created by the artist. With an emphasis on new music, the imprint will lend itself as a discovery tool for listeners worldwide as well as an opportunity to give a platform to artists whose work Fire Talk is enthusiastic about.
