Introducing: Keep Dancing Inc
Paris’ finest trio are back with their infectious, frenetic new single 'Radio'. Their first new music in three years, it marks a blistering return for the band, who are now signed to V2 Records.
“I remember writing the song pretty quickly in the summer of 2021” explains KDI frontman Louis de Marliave. “I was full of unanswered, existential questions at that time and was scared of what their answers might be. This song is about the frustration one can feel in the face of all the projects that turned out the wrong way and how music can drive us to go back on track”.
Radio is accompanied by a video which despite the track’s name, was thought of as an homage to the way television used to englobe us. Playing with the memory of what some storefronts used to look like - patchworks of TV screens, an always-surrounding flow of images never really noticed - as well as finding inspiration from old school music shows we all grew up watching on television, often late at night. Through these images, working with this comforting sense of nostalgia, the band and director Thomas Granet-Tegler wanted to echo the song’s lyrics, about how images and stories accompany us, as a way of escaping the rigorous monotony of everyday life.
KDI’s assured, critically acclaimed debut album Embrace was released in 2020, winning hearts and minds on both sides of the channel for it’s effortless blend of synth pop, dance and lyrical wit. It received top support from the likes of NME, i-D, DIY, Attitude Magazine, Clash, TMRW, The Line Of Best Fit, Radio 1’s Jack Saunders, Les Inrocks, Rolling Stone and more. One of the most thrilling live acts to come out of France, the band were also handpicked by Saint Laurent to perform for their exclusive Rive Droite sessions; a unique cultural experience exploring and collaborating with emerging music talent.
Louis, Joseph and Gabrielle passionately share a medley of influences that often taken them back to the source of disco, new wave and pop; setting them up nicely for their ongoing mission to create compelling music to move your body to. Expect bolder & even more captivating material from KDI in the coming months, as well as live dates to be announced in due course.
