Isbells Share New Song 'Away You Go' and Album Artwork of Upcoming Album 'and the noise settles'

Today Isbells share the second single "Away You Go" of their upcoming sixth album "and the noise settles", which will be released via V2 Records on 17 January. They also proudly present the album artwork made by Lóa Noi Bouwmeester, daughter of Chantal Acda and band member of Isbells.

Away You Go is a poignant tribute to Geert Maris, an old friend and founder of Nona Mez, whose unexpected passing deeply impacted all who knew him. The lyrics reflect the bittersweet nature of loss: “Some days are good, some days are bad,” capturing the complexity of grief. The refrain “Away you go” offers a gentle farewell, suggesting a transition to peace while celebrating the memories of a vibrant life.

The song creates an intimate atmosphere, inviting listeners to remember and reflect. Lines like “In our thoughts, in this song you’re still alive” emphasize that memories keep loved ones close. The heartfelt acknowledgment of “the songs you wrote, the jokes you told” serves as a reminder that even in sorrow, we find joy in shared moments.

In Away You Go, Isbells beautifully honors Geert's legacy, inviting us to cherish the connections that endure through music and memory.

and the noise settles is the first ever album where Gaëtan Vandewoude hands over total control over the production to fellow band member Chantal Acda. Although the creative process with the band members was running smoothly, Gaëtan suddenly hit a creative block. The inspiration seemed to ebb away, and for the first time, he felt that something was missing. While sharing his concerns with band member and best friend Chantal Acda, something happend: Gaëtan asked her to take on the role of producer. This would mark the first time he wasn't the producer of his own album.

The artwork is a painting of Lóa Noi Bouwmeester, Chantal Acda's daughter and band member of Isbells. Since discovering her work some years ago, Gaëtan couldn't let go of it. "As the music for the new album came to life, I felt a deep resonance with one of her artworks. To me, the album feels like an adventure, like a journey through new worlds and emotions. Lóa’s work seems to express that same journey – her colors capture the atmosphere of the music and breathe the same energy, mystery, and wonder. The unique shapes in her art each portray their own path, as if each represents a different song, with its own story, rhythm, and destination."

The magic of the recordings on 'and the noise settles', will be brought to life on stage by the core Isbells band: Gerd Van Mulders (bass, trumpet), Christophe Vandewoude (drums), Chantal Acda (keys & vocals), Gianni Marzo (guitar), and Gaëtan Vandewoude (vocals, guitar, keys).
