JACOTÉNE releases "Easy"

A force to be reckoned with, the burgeoning sensation, JACOTÉNE, has just unveiled her highly-anticipated EP, ‘Untitled (Read My Mind)’: A 6-track body of work that opens with an intro titled ‘Only God’, capturing listeners with its haunting guitar chords that swirl around a voice in possession of weight and stories far beyond the young starlet’s age.

The EP moves into the previously released single ‘Stronger’. A heavenly melodic track highlighting JACOTÉNE’s range and the bar in which she vocally builds off from, having grown up surrounded by classic artists thanks to her parents’ CD collection, from the sounds of Aretha Franklin, Etta James to Michael Jackson and more.

‘Untitled (Read My Mind)’ continues into her initial debut single, ‘Stop Calling’. A Jay Moon (SG Lewis, Demi Lovato) produced, adrenaline-building cut, chock full of a punchy kick drum and keys that showcase the bold power of her voice and its ability to build and sail, while arresting listeners in their tracks.

A smooth transition finds listeners coming to in the whirring bass and string-laden ‘Easy’, produced and in collaboration with the percussion-based band GhostNote, along with Ozmoses Arketx (Skip Marley, Busta Rhymes) for a swift-paced blend of funk, jazz, R&B, with even a smidge of afrobeat.

JACOTÉNE’s mix of defiantly unfiltered lyricism, heart-wrenching note, achingly lush melodies and unapologetic grit have marked her out as a star who is undeniably and inarguably on the rise. Where her first single ‘Stop Calling’ was all warm, bluesy Motown soul, her most recent track, ‘Stronger’ offered a gorgeously rueful and reflective dissection of a relationship fraying at the seams perfect for the wee hours, with JACOTÉNE sighing “I was going nowhere/ but you took me there faster” as shimmering piano and guitar lines twinkle and cascade all around her.

The enthralling siren then slows it down with, ‘Forgive Me’. Her final single to be shared ahead of the EP, that further spotlights the young talent’s undeniable gifts. “If I loved you too much then I made you push me away” she vocally sails amid a harmonious bass, piano strokes and more. Sonically, it continues alignment along the EP’s overarching themes of romance, heartbreak, deep introspection, reflection and self-discovery, offering another cohesive glimpse into the emotional journey at the heart of the project.

“Everybody goes through change, no matter what stage in life, this is the cycle of life...” expresses JACOTÉNE on her debut EP. “When people face change, they may withdraw to their own thoughts to feel more in control,” she continues. “‘Untitled (Read My Mind)’ was born from some of my internal thoughts, but also from a place of isolation, uncertainty and change. Sometimes I crave a silent miracle, to be understood, without having to say a word.”

She wraps the project with the orchestral ‘What Did I Do?’ that finds the bright star even collaborating with the Czech Film Orchestra, as listeners accompany her through the rhythmic and polyphonic introspective journey her voice both carries us through and bestows privilege to witness.

Her songs tell the timeless stories of love, late night pleas, early morning regrets, inner heartbreak and widescreen emotions. With each release, listeners are encouraged to further explore the vividly cinematic, tear-stained yet darkly glamorous world of the bright young star, JACOTÉNE. Named as one of NME’s 100 of 2025, she was recently on the cover of 10 Magazine Australia and recently performed at the celebration of Métier's d'art Collection for CHANEL.

In the past year JACOTÉNE has played a string of festivals and live dates including support slots for Tems in Sydney and Melbourne, Pa Salieu in London, G FLIP on their Melbourne and Adelaide tour dates, and has a summer of European festivals ahead of her. She has all the makings of a smart, soulful and utterly and elegantly distinctive new voice so watch this space.
