James Blake pushes back release of new album to October 8th

GRAMMY Award-winning UK singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer James Blake has James Blake has delayed the release of his new album – ‘Friends That Break Your Heart’ will now come out October 8. The singer’s fifth album was originally due to arrive on September 10, but has been delayed for a month due to COVID-19-related delays at vinyl pressing plants.

Friends That Break Your Heart is available for pre-order HERE and follows the recently released Covers EP. A collection of Blake’s favorite covers, including his critically acclaimed cover of Frank Ocean’s “Godspeed,” which generated over 5 million views on TikTok.

This is James Blakes’ first new full-length album in three years. With Blake calling Friends That Break Your Heart a “concept album.” So far, James Blake has shared two previews of the forthcoming album, ‘Life Is Not The Same’ and lead single ‘Say What You Will’ last month. ‘Friends That Break Your Heart’ is set to feature guest appearances from SZA, JID, SwaVay and Monica Martin.

James worked closely with artist Miles Johnston to design a cover reflective of the album. The result is a visual encapsulation of the emotions brought forth throughout the body of work.
