James Crowley Announces Forthcoming EP "Imprint", Releases Single "Co-Pilot"

London-based songwriter James Crowley announces his forthcoming EP, Imprint, out September 18th via TRIPEL Records. The announcement arrives alongside lead single Co-Pilot, available now - a bare-it-all anthem capturing the crashing, electric intensity of falling into a lover's arms.

Opening the EP with restless momentum, Co-Pilot captures the uncertainty of stepping into new love and not knowing what you’re allowed to ask for. It pairs delicate, questioning lyricism with James’ most ambitious tracks to date - urgent guitar rhythms colliding with subversive, yet familiar synth textures. Written with Wolf Alice’s Joel Amey, the result is a track that thrives on tension, mirroring the push and pull of vulnerability and self-protection.

Imprint follows Crowley's acclaimed 2024 EP Play to Win, which earned significant support from BBC Radio 6Music, and marks a bold new chapter in his songwriting. Co-written with Joel Amey of Wolf Alice and produced by Mike Horner (Franz Ferdinand, Hot Wax, Deaf Havana), the record explores desire and the messy, beautiful workings of love with a clarity that indie folk rarely affords its queer voices. Moving from the reckless rush of a night out into the harder, quieter work of defining love on one's own terms, Imprint charts a deliberate emotional arc - restless at its edges, tender at its core.

To mark the release, Crowley will take to the stage at The Victoria in London on 14th October — an invitation into the world he has spent so long quietly building.

James Crowley is a London-based songwriter rapidly carving out a distinct place in the contemporary indie-folk landscape. Centering themes of desire, identity, and the intricate architecture of modern relationships, his storytelling carries a vulnerable, queer-led perspective that feels both urgent and timeless.

His 2024 EP Play to Win earned support from BBC 6Music, The Line of Best Fit, Earmilk, and Atwood Magazine, while a string of sold-out London headline shows — at The Sebright Arms, Paper Dress Vintage, and Servant Jazz Quarters — cemented his reputation as a captivating live performer.

A seasoned collaborator, Crowley has previously worked with Mike Spearman (Everything Everything), Mike Wyatt (Lewis Capaldi, The Ting Tings, Selah Sue), and Kyle Blackburn (Afriquoi, Chainska Brassika, Hak Baker). Reuniting with producer Mike Horner on Imprint, Crowley blends intricate folk arrangements with a newfound pop polish — delivering a project that is as expansive as it is intimate, and further establishing him as one of the UK's most compelling new voices.
