Janne Schra new album "Ponzo" out on September 21
Singer-songwriter Janne Schra began her career with acclaimed Dutch band Room Eleven, which recorded two albums: the first, Six White Russians and a Pink Pussycat (2006), went platinum, and the second, Mmm... Gumbo? (2008), for which the band traveled to New York to record, went gold. After touring Japan, Canada, Europe and South Africa, and winning two Dutch music awards, the band concluded their work together with the release of a live concert DVD in 2009.
Never one to follow the beaten path, Schra began a new musical journey, first recording the eclectic collection India Lima Oscar Victor Echo You in Stockholm in 2011, under the name Schradinova (the pseudonym she uses as a painter). This was followed by a very productive period of collaborations with artists like M. Ward, Dayna Kurtz, Kyteman, De Staat, Kraak & Smaak, Sister Bliss, Benjamin Herman and others, before she returned to her own name with the eponymous release of Janne Schra in 2013.
Schra did not slow down in 2014: in April, with the Robin Nolan Trio, she released a collection of her original songs recorded in gypsy jazz style. After a series of Dutch concerts supporting the album, she then toured China with the group. Schra next collaborated on two stage productions with leading Dutch orchestras, and co-wrote and performed (with Torre Florim of De Staat) the title song to the new Dutch drama series Hollands Hoop - all the while, writing and recording for her next release: her highly anticipated fifth studio album, PONZO produced by Torre Florim. For this album she also collaborated with Gaëtan Vandewoude from Isbells.
