Jennifer Aniston reworked by the Mercury Award-nominated musician and producer also known as James Chapman

Quick-fix culture, the talons of a wellbeing industry sinking into unsuspecting skin and elusive contentment all play a role in the return of Jennifer Aniston, the ominous electro-noir single from Glasgow’s multi-disciplinary femme mystérieuse, Goodnight Louisa. Lifted from the deluxe edition of her second album, Marathon, released on Fri 14 November 2025, the track is remixed by Mute Records’ Maps, submersing the original’s infectious synth-pop hooks into deep fathoms of euphoric instrumentation.

Asking the simple question: “Wouldn't we all like to look like 'Jennifer Aniston'?”, the musician, home-producer and occasional actor, Louise McCraw borrows the image of the Friends TV and film superstar to sing salient points on image fixation, irretrievable youth and the precious commodity of time being undervalued. The second in a series of singles that appropriated famously strong and uncompromising female stars, following Grace Jones and preceding Drew Barrymore, the original release of the fiercely upbeat Jennifer Aniston drove home McCraw’s playful storytelling style and precision musicianship.

Marathon, the latest Goodnight Louisa album, following the critical success of 2022’s Human Danger debut, has earned its name from McCraw’s sense of exhaustion in pulling together a new, 12-track album of personal and universally truthful sketches on attraction, gender and awkward introspection. Support for Marathon’s singles and eventual release has come from all sides, including BBC 6 Music, with Goodnight Louisa being named Emily Pilbeam’s Introducing Mixtape Artist Of The Month in September.

Jennifer Aniston (Maps Remix), reworked by the Mercury Award-nominated musician and producer also known as James Chapman, appears on the deluxe version of the album alongside a C Duncan remix of McCraw’s popular single, Actor.

Reflecting on Jennifer Aniston at the time of the single’s original release, McCraw said: "The song came from being sick of constantly searching for something that would fix 'everything' and how life feels like one linear line of panic and urgency. A race to beat time before it beats us.”

While Chapman adds: “I absolutely love the whole ‘Marathon’ album, and it was such a pleasure to remix this track. ‘Jennifer Aniston’ is filled to the brim with catchy hooks and motifs, and Louise’s vocal is so beautifully uplifting. I really wanted to push the euphoric elements whilst also introducing some different rhythmic grooves throughout the mix. It was a joy to work on.”

The album was written, produced and recorded in McCraw’s one-bedroom apartment with contributions of drummer, Jonny Scott of Chvrches, violin by Zoe Graham and brass from Craig MacMahon. Marathon was mixed and mastered by Kristofer Harris (Belle & Sebastian, Ghostpoet). Whilst a run of live appearances in support of the release recently passed in a rush of kind words, shaken hands and communal joy, Goodnight Louisa’s few remaining live dates for 2025 are as follows:
