Jodie Abacus drops "I'll Be That Friend"
Listen to Jodie Abacus - "I'll Be That Friend"
Hailing from South London, singer/songwriter/pianist Jodie Abacus is a little bit of everything citing Billy Joel, Hall & Oates, Earth, Wind & Fire as musical influences. With that diverse musical palette, Abacus crafted the infectious single, “I’ll Be That Friend”, which is retro but modern, with Stevie Wonder’s soul, ELO’s strings and a message of hope. The irresistible single and EP, For Real Life & Not Pretend came out of what Abacus describes as “the worst, mental, f**k-with-my-head year,” that included a break-up with his girlfriend of five years and an almost fatal bout of pneumonia. The music that was his therapy is soon to become everyone else’s happy pill. “I must be able to take s**t and grow flowers,” he says. “That’s my motto.” With that, Jodie Abacus is continuing to make 2016 a fantastic year with his unique brand of soulful pop.
