Johnny Burgos, Yellow Shoots collab on silky, danceable rnb single - Fun Tonight
Brooklyn based artists, Yellow Shoots and Johnny Burgos first met years ago at NYC’s Flux Studios, and, on September 11, 2020, they will release their single, Fun Tonight, a collaboration that captures the evolution of both their friendship and their respective artistry. The result is a lively, infectious danceable alt rnb groove that weaves Yellow Shoots’ (real name Greg Matthews) psychedelic rnb infused production with Burgos’ sultry smooth voice. The single is part of Burgos’ upcoming LP “Falling into Place.”
The tune was meticulously crafted over three years while both artists’ skill sets grew significantly. The song morphed and developed with them, and they would both come back to ideas months later knowing exactly what they wanted to improve. Burgos shared, “this collaboration pushed the boundaries of our comfort zones, inspiring new perspectives on each of our approaches to the craft.”

The song emanates a bright, energetic warmth that blends layers of rhythmic motifs with cosmic synth textures that sit atop an understated four on the floor kick and funky bass line. The sensual, jazz-tinged acoustic guitar lines and strumming create both a rhythmic and harmonic foundation that serves as the organic thread propelling the track. Burgos’ silky and catchy vocals float effortlessly, punctuated by his and Matthew’s lyrical background flourishes. The sonic palette of the single is cohesive at all times while simultaneously in constant motion.
