Johnny Lloyd releases his new solo album: ‘Cheap Medication’, via Xtra Mile Recordings.

To celebrate the album’s release, Johnny will be playing a special live set for Banquet Records and taking part in a Q&A via Zoom - tune in TONIGHT @ 7pmhere.

Plus, this coming Monday Johnny will be appearing on Steve Lamacq’s show on BBC6 Music (2 November, from 4pm) airing songs from ‘Cheap Medication’ and chatting to Lammo in-depth about the record.

A definitively more character-based and narrative-driven listen than its predecessor (2019’s debut ‘Next Episode Starts in 15 Seconds’), ‘Cheap Medication’ is a record alive with people, choices and stories. Reflecting on the record on the day of its release, Johnny says:

“I’ve never made a record like this... I think this one is way more euphoric than the last record. It’s much more situation based and event based. I don’t think I’ve been happier with a collection of songs for a long time. I feel really good about this and think there really is something on there for everyone.”

Guest featuring Kapil Trivedi of Mystery Jets, Pete Denton of The Kooks and Tom Odell’s backing band, the record also introduces San Diego star in the making: Shelbi Bennet. Recorded between Abbey Road Studios and Johnny’s home, the album was co-produced by Nathan Coen.
