Josh Okeefe Announces exclusive London date
US / UK troubadour JOSH OKEEFE is delighted to announce an exclusive performance in London in the New Year.
For his debut headline show in the capital, the rising folksinger from England via Tennessee will be performing at The Water Rats on 10th January 2019; following in the footsteps of giants the likes of The Pogues, Bob Dylan, Oasis and The Courteeners who have all graced the venue’s stage early-on in their careers.
After an incredible year which has seen Okeefe turn heads with performances at premier festivals including The Woody Guthrie Folk Festival (USA) and Black Deer Festival (UK), play alongside idols such as Kris Kristofferson at his birthday concert at London’s Kenwood House and Lindi Ortega on her Summer UK tour; the young folk talent will now return for this unmissable one-off date.
The news arrives as Okeefe puts the finishing touches to his keenly-awaited debut 'studio' album following a string of recording sessions at Nashville's historic Columbia A studio, expected for release in 2019. At the Water Rats show, fans can expect to hear a sneak peak of the tracks set to appear on the record, plus favourites from Okeefe’s critically acclaimed s/t EP release of 2017.
Earlier this year, Okeefe has released a string of live sessions for the GEMSonVHS video series to an overwhelmingly positive public reception. Performances of Josh’s own tracks ‘Runaway Train’ and 'I Won’t Let You Down’, alongside a stunning rendition of Ewan MacColl's 'Dirty Old Town' (as made famous by The Pogues) as performed in a jail cell at Shrewsbury Prison, have all taken the internet channel by storm.
Those who have already seen Josh’s captivating performances from his former visits here will know to expect a night of top drawer folk, blues and ballads from one of the most promising folk artists in these modern times.
In association with popular London folk promoter FolkOnMonday, Josh Okeefe will make his debut London headline show on January 10th 2019. Not to be missed...
