Josh Wink, Christopher Coe & Tony Morris Explore the Psyche on “Probe Your Mind”
The legend that is Josh Wink joins forces with the irrepressible Christopher Coe and the inimitable Tony Morris to bring us this psychedelic banger of a tune! Tony Morris, a recent convert to the dark side of electronic music, brings his dark, Byron-esque monologue to the fore here with his idea for what to do instead of going out to socialize. Underpinned by deep basslines, tribal drums, and Wink’s melodic acid styles, Morris’s lyrics take on new meaning in the context of these dancefloor fillers!
With two versions from Wink and Coe (Wink’s Mind and Coe’s Mind), ‘Probe Your Mind’ is a solid mind melt and body mover all in one (or two, rather). Josh’s version is straight dancefloor immediacy with a beautiful and melodic breakdown. Coe’s version is darker and more raw, but still with that Wink-inspired melodic acid infusion.
It’s another instant classic!
The collaboration brings together three distinctive voices from across the electronic music spectrum. Philadelphia-born Josh Wink remains one of the most influential figures in techno and house, a pioneering artist whose career has been defined by experimentation and a refusal to be confined by genre. Over the past three decades, Wink has consistently blurred the lines between house, techno, acid, and beyond, influencing generations of producers while maintaining a sound that remains unmistakably his own. His extensive remix catalog includes work for artists such as Radiohead, Moby, Sting, Depeche Mode, Radio Slave, and Dave Clarke, while his seminal imprint Ovum Recordings continues to be a cornerstone of underground electronic music more than 28 years after its launch.
Joining him is Christopher Coe, the founder of Awesome Soundwave and a respected live techno performer and producer whose label has become known for championing forward-thinking electronic music. Together, Wink and Coe create the sonic foundation for Probe Your Mind, combining hypnotic acid textures, deep basslines, and tribal rhythms into a track that is both immediate and immersive.
Adding another dimension is Tony Morris, the 74-year-old Glasgow cult phenomenon whose unlikely rise has become one of the most compelling stories in electronic music. A former bookkeeper and taxi driver who only began pursuing creative endeavors in his late sixties, Morris has rapidly established himself as a singular voice in underground culture. His dark, irreverent spoken-word style and mutant cabaret aesthetic have earned him acclaim far beyond Scotland, including a Scottish Alternative Music Award for Best Electronic Act and a breakthrough release on Optimo Music. In recent years, he has performed everywhere from grassroots DIY spaces to London's EartH, collaborated with a growing list of artists, appeared in documentaries and independent films, and become a celebrated fixture of Glasgow's creative community through his regular broadcasts on Clyde Built Radio. On Probe Your Mind, Morris' distinctive Byron-esque monologue transforms the track into something more than a dancefloor weapon, injecting it with a surreal narrative quality that lingers long after the music fades.
