Krewella share new single "the blueprint"

Pakistani-American sister duo Krewella, the electronic project from Jahan and Yasmine Yousaf, share their latest single “the blueprint” - out August 7th on their Mixed Kids Records imprint.

“the blueprint” infuses the duo’s signature dance pop vocals with a bass-heavy, hard dance production. The latest offering from a forthcoming larger project - sonically the new single is representative of the duality of Krewella at its core; beautiful ethereal elements mixed edgier, slightly uncomfortable moments.

An acknowledgement to always having done things their own way in Krewella for 15 years, “the blueprint” speaks to the power of always being the authentic version of yourself, whether it's accepted or not, whether anyone sees it or not.

In their words: “the blueprint is an ode to the ones who embark on the lonely journey of going places no one has ever gone and holding the torch for everyone following. Mixing crisp melodies, hyperpop vocal chops, and grating hard dance synth leads, the first drop is a euphoric release - while the rest of the song starts to build with chords that will take you to church. We end in a drum n bass finale that mixes classic breaks, transient bass plucks, and unexpected elements that help make this song one of the most unique we as sisters have ever made. We are so proud to present this song to you, and thank you for listening.”

This year, Krewella have returned with the singles "Without You" and "Something Sacred," showing they're back in the studio and cooking at full heat.

Ahead of the debut of their latest single, Krewella is partnering with TikTok LIVE on a custom fan hub built directly into the app. Beginning August 6, fans can access new release updates, join weekly LIVEs with Jahan and Yasmine via @krewella on TikTok, and enter to win merch and tickets. You can access the hub by searching "Krewella LIVE" on TikTok or navigating to the page through the TikTok LIVE campaign hub.

Following the release of their 2022 album The Body Never Lies, Krewella stepped away from the spotlight and the studio for nearly two years, pressing pause on new music to recharge creatively, and reconnect with their individual artistic pursuits. The sisters spent that time exploring new creative disciplines and personal growth - ultimately returning to the project with a renewed sense of purpose. The result is a fresh chapter for Krewella, one that embraces the emotional depth and artistic evolution forged during their time away.

“the blueprint” is out on Mixed Kids Records on August 7th.

ABOUT KREWELLA

Krewella is the boundless electronic duo comprised of sisters Jahan and Yasmine Yousaf. Born in Houston to a Pakistani father and German-Lithuanian-American mother, their multicultural background influences their art. Always experimental, they’ve carved out their own niche in EDM. Krewella began as high schoolers in 2007 and broke into the scene in 2012 with their chart-topping self-released debut EP, Play Hard. They kept the momentum going in 2013 with their massive debut album, Get Wet, and the platinum-selling hit single “Alive.”

In 2017 - a year after making Forbes' 30 Under 30 list - Krewella chose independence and launched their own Mixed Kids Records label with their bold New World Pt. 1 EP. Their January 2020 album, zer0, is a sonic "ode to the blank slate," as Jahan and Yasmine put it, and was hailed by Billboard as a "transformative body of work."

Their adventurous third album, The Body Never Lies, came out in 2022 on their Mixed Kids Records. Created from an intimate, internal space over the last year, the LP explores topics of impermanence, the human experience, and their relationship to the world around them as half-Pakistani women in a male governed society.

Their energy and creativity propels their live performances and DJ sets alike. They've played Coachella, Lollapalooza, EDC, Ultra, iHeartRadio Music Festival, Tomorrowland, Storm (China), Sunburn (India), Coke Studios in Pakistan, and more, in addition to their own headlining tours and Las Vegas residencies.
