Kabbel "Busy Hatin" : new single out tomorrow!

It's a great pleasure for me to welcome back one of the faithful from the start members of the Vous Connaissez? roster: Kabbel! Or the nocturnal alter ego of Gregory Hoepffner, a jack-of-all-trades with countless projects, including the bands Jean Jean, SURE, June, Ghoster, Time To Burn, as well in solo under the Almeeva and G.H Francis monikers. After his dazzling End Of Norms EP in 2021, followed by his steamy cover of Beck's "Wave", the French musician and producer based in Gothenburg continues to unveil a sound universe all his own. A self-proclaimed queer sadcore genre, somewhere between indus and pop, increasingly asserted on "Busy Hatin", a new single that will be out on Thursday October 10th. It's a flamboyant banger, summoning Depeche Mode as well as HEALTH and The Weeknd!

Kabbel describes himself as the one "who never goes out without his demons, dressed in a mixture of extreme music, alternative noisy and dark pop". And "Busy Hatin" does it justice! The sound design and electronic textures seem to dominate the terrain as they welcome this spectral, sensitive voice... Before the pressure rises when wild indus beats and a muffled, but hugely effective metalcore riff are added. Anyone who comes within range has no choice but to rush into this mosh pit with a false aspect of dancefloor! Gregory gives us his compositional intentions:

It's a frank look in the mirror, tinged with a lot of self-destructive thoughts and isolation, with all the regrets that brings. It starts introspectively with a few cinematic strings, before unleashing some obnoxious big guitars, whose intelligence is inversely proportional to the release felt.

To accompany this new single, Kabbel releases an abstract and experimental video. Gregory takes to the stage in a dark, epileptic atmosphere, with his inseparable Shure SM57 as his only weapon. The idea? Here it is:

Represent the vision of someone who thinks too much, and thinks badly: you see without seeing, in a distorted way, alone in the middle of nowhere, losing yourself in endless theatricality. We make a lot of noise and gesticulate a lot, but it all stays in our heads and does nothing to change the world around us.
