Kefaya & Elaha Soroor Release New Single “I Ran And Ran (Leaving Crumbles) – Davidam”

Award-winning musical collaborators Kefaya & Elaha Soroor today release their new single, I Ran and Ran (Leaving Crumbles) - Davidam, the latest preview of their forthcoming album Our Freedoms Must Be Won – Azadi Kho Bigri, out July 17 via Radio International / Absolute.

Arriving at a moment when the displacement of Afghan communities — particularly the Hazara people — continues to demand the world's attention, the track transforms a traditional Hazara nursery rhyme into one of the album's more uplifting moments: a celebration of growth, collective awareness, and the gradual building of political consciousness.

With a folky, rolling pulse at its heart, I Ran and Ran carries a sense of perpetual movement — guitar, drums and synths weaving together to create something folky and subtly psychedelic, the music itself mimicking the accumulation and flow of the song's central idea. A children's song reimagined as a map of how understanding grows: passed from person to person, generation to generation, until awareness becomes its own form of power.

Our Freedoms Must Be Won follows their critically acclaimed album Songs of Our Mothers (Bella Union), which won the 2020 Songlines Award for Best Fusion Album, and continues the band's mission to push the boundaries of global music.

Kefaya is the London-based trio of Giuliano Modarelli, Al MacSween, and Joost Hendrickx, known for their boundary-breaking approach to global sounds, jazz, and socially conscious music.

They reunite here with Elaha Soroor, a pioneering Hazara singer whose voice conveys both profound emotional depth and unflinching power. Soroor rose to prominence as a finalist on Afghanistan's Afghan Star and made history as the first female Hazara singer to perform on Afghan television. She has since appeared on BBC Farsi, Al Jazeera, and numerous Persian media outlets.
