Kids With Buns release new single "best friend"
Last Friday, Kids With Buns released “best friend”, just in time for their Pukkelpop show last weekend. “best friend” is the third single from upcoming second album “bell jar”. The highly anticipated new album will be released on the 16th of October via V2 Records. Listen to “best friend” here.
Don't let the festival ready chorus fool you. "best friend" sounds like a summer banger about a situationship, but it's actually about the cruelest kind of limbo: realising the only thing left in your relationship is platonic, too scared to admit the relationship is already over. Uptempo, deceptively upbeat, and absolutely impossible to get out of your head once that chorus hits. This is a hook built for festival crowds to scream back, and it's getting its first ever live outing on the Pukkelpop Main Stage, the exact stage this song sounds like it was written for.
Kids With Buns’ forthcoming second album bell jar was written when both Marie and Amber processed the ending of long-term relationships, capturing the cycle of that grief potently within the material itself. The duo worked on the songs alongside producer Jacob Blizard (Lucy Dacus), a collaboration that inspired a more layered, cinematic sound on singles like “blind” and “car crash”.
