Kingfishr release the live favourite and key album track ‘Caroline’ as their new single

The phenomenal rise of Kingfishr recently reached a remarkable new peak with the news that their debut album ‘Halcyon’ shot straight to #1 on the Official Irish Albums Chart. That week also saw ‘Killeagh’ remain at #1 (eventually spending 10 weeks in total at the top) on the Official Irish Singles Chart, which meant they joined a rare list of domestic artists to simultaneously top both charts - the first to do so since Dermot Kennedy in 2020. Meanwhile, their success was further underlined as ‘Diamonds & Roses’ peaked at #5.

Now Kingfishr keep ‘Halcyon’ in the spotlight as they release the live favourite and key album track ‘Caroline’ as their new single. It comes ahead of their European headline tour, which commences early next month.

‘Caroline’ is a song which melds modern folk-pop with elements of timeless Irish traditional music and a powerful, cinematic quality. It takes a poignant look back over a past relationship, citing a “combination of hubris and impulsivity” as the sole reason for walking away. But despite being dominated by regret, it doesn't feel bitter or jaded but rather infused with a youthful sense of hope, and learning from your mistakes. The song was inspired by the band’s love of the Irish poet Seamus Heaney.

Frontman Eddie Keogh says, “This is the first song that was written with a more guided, poetic intention. Tapping into the marriage between the trouble you have in relationships, and also that fairytale Irish existence that people think of.”

UK and European dates follow from November and are almost entirely sold-out, including their biggest London gigs so far at the O2 Forum Kentish Town. While 2025 closes with two nights at Dublin’s 3Arena, even bigger plans are afoot for 2026 with four major outdoor summer shows in Ireland which will see them play to 60,000 fans.
