Konradsen tease upcoming album with new single 'Efficiency'

Northern Norwegian duo Konradsen - the project of Jenny Marie Sabel and Eirik Vildgren - today release new single ‘Efficiency’, alongside an animated visual by Jacob Grönbech Jensen (Kelly Lee Owens, Prins Thomas). Arriving shortly after their recent collaboration with Gia Margaret, 'Nick of Time', the track provides a second glimpse of a new body of work expected later this year. Konradsen will mark the beginning of this new chapter with a special show at Oslo's MUNCH Museum on 10th April.

Written while the duo were also composing for a short film rooted in Jenny’s home village Storfjord, ‘Efficiency’ grew out of a request for something “slightly souly” in 6/8 - inspired by jazz singer Solveig Slettahjell’s version of ‘Borrowed Time’ by John Lennon and Yoko Ono. The song ultimately wasn’t used in the film, but the constraint proved pivotal, pushing Konradsen into a register they might not have explored otherwise.

Produced with Hans Olav Settem and Marith Othilie Thorvik, ‘Efficiency’ features guest vocals from Norwegian singer-songwriter Beharie. Set against softly strummed guitars, sparing strings and unhurried percussion, his expressive delivery deepens the song’s emotional centre: a portrait of love that persists through routine rather than drama:

"'Efficiency' portrays a kind of love that isn’t always immediate or all-consuming, but one that endures nonetheless — a relationship where time, patience, and a willingness to see the beauty in each other’s imperfections are essential. It touches on a phase many people recognize: when the distance between two people can feel greater than before, yet the bond remains strong."

'Nick of Time' and 'Efficiency' feel like early signals - songs pulled from a period of reflection and shifting priorities, pointing toward a body of work concerned with choosing closeness, protecting relationships, and asking difficult questions about the lives we build.

Konradsen operate in their own register entirely. Their music treats everyday detail with cinematic patience - folding observations, overheard voices, and small domestic textures into arrangements that feel intentional without ever sounding forced. Jenny Marie Sabel’s voice carries a rare steadiness - unshowy and deeply expressive, able to hold intimacy without collapsing into sentimentality - while Eirik Vildgren frames it with production that feels tactile and curious. Across their work, they’ve built a space where emotional clarity and understated production can sit side by side, creating songs that stay close to the body while thinking far beyond it. ‘Nick of Time’ and ‘Efficiency’ continue their evolution, outlining the first real contours of what comes next, with further new material expected later this year.

Kondradsen's debut album 'Saints and Sebastian Stories' (Cascine) won a Norwegian Grammy and praise from the likes of Pitchfork and The FADER for its tender storytelling and emotional precision. Their second album 'Michael’s Book on Bears' (777 Music) saw them re-emerge with a deeper sense of place and perspective — described by Stereogum as “tender, soulful”. In the months that followed, Konradsen embarked on tour across Europe with Angie McMahon, sold-out Parkteatret in Oslo with further headline shows in London and a slot at Pitchfork Paris.
