Latin American Metal Opera: Memorias de un Despertar releases new single

‘Hijos de las Cumbres’, an Andean epic

From Peru, Memorias de un Despertar is approaching the release of its second album and, as a preview, released the song ‘Hijos de las Cumbres’, which tells the epic story of six brothers who were separated after the fall of their parents and who grew up in different conditions, facing betrayals and pain, leading them to fight each other as bitter enemies. This piece features the voice of Venezuelan Chego Cabrices, singer of the band Unos Infames.

About the single, Marcel Verand, writer and leader of the band, comments that “it reflects the emotional core of the saga: the fight between hatred and redemption. It stands out for its powerful narrative and for the complexity of its musical composition and arrangements. It is a central piece that encapsulates the intensity of the emotional journey of the characters. I hope it connects deeply with our audience thanks to its emotional charge and the quality of production, which combines the power of metal with an epic narrative.”

Under the title of “Ira & Traición”, the new work of this project will consolidate its position as an important Latin American metal opera. Each of its installments corresponds to the trilogy of books written and published by Verand, which serve as a script for the plot of each album. The debut in 2021 with Ira & Sacrificio managed to add many plays and followers from various places thanks to the quality of the songs, their musical arrangements and the stellar participation of talents from their native Peru, Chile, Argentina, Venezuela, Brazil, Italy, France, Portugal and Canada. A configuration that remains and that will inspire its theme in Inca mythology to transport listeners to a magical and fantasy world.
