Lenny Lenny shares debut single and videoclip "Tambourine" - new solo project of Lennert Coorevits from Compact Disk Dummies

The perfect kick starter for that spring-feeling is here: the very first single of Lenny Lenny called ‘Tambourine’ is out today! Picture a sweet spot between Beck, Paul McCartney and Childish Gambino... That’s where Lennert Coorevits sets up camp with Lenny Lenny, his brand new solo-work and main musical project for the next year, while Compact Disk Dummies is taking a well-deserved break.

With ‘Tambourine’ Lenny Lenny immediately sets the tone: the song is steeped in a vintage sound with modern touches, energetic, playful, yet classy. It’s about feeling so overwhelmed by someone who steps into your life, the other person almost becomes intangible. Like a feverish tambourine that shakes you to the core. Beyond the percussive rhythm section, it features Parcels-like vocals, spaced out drumfills and a dangerously contagious mix of catchy lyrics and addictive funk.

Soulful, stripped-back, yet still danceable in their own way, musically Lenny Lenny sails in a different direction than the band he runs with his brother Janus. In this setup, he shakes off the 4-to-the-floor beat, and creates a highly personal and eclectic sound with a warm, vintage seventies glow. There’s soul to be found, and a brilliant dynamic that teases the listener onto the dancefloor.

In a video made by Brian Van Es, we see Lenny Lenny waking up from a beauty sleep drawn in by the tunes coming from his cream-coloured headphones. What's next is an impromptu dance session through Antwerp and Ghent (you can recognize "het Kiel" and the Ledeberg parking tower) where Lennert Coorevits pays remarkably little attention to his surroundings. Even a frontal clash with a passerby - a blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameo from actor Jonas Vermeulen - doesn't sweep him off his feet. Style, music, a warm grainy glow... Lenny Lenny's 'Tambourine' has a distinct signature - a feast for the eyes, ears and hips!

About the name Lenny Lenny Lennert explains the following: “The project is very personal and close to my skin. But I still see Lenny Lenny as an alter ego that dares just a bit more than I do,” Lennert explains. “An amplification of my style, my influences, my stories. ‘Regular’ Lenny creates it, Lenny Lenny dares to project and push the pedal to the metal.”
