Lexi Valentine Is Set To Release Her New Single "Niña Feliz" on August 13

Last year, Lexi Valentine's world was turned upside down. While living in Mexico City, she spent months travelling back and forth to Toronto as her father faced ongoing health issues, all while navigating the end of a long-term relationship and trying to make sense of a homesickness that wasn't really about a place. Born into a Mexican family and having moved to Mexico City in 2018, she had always felt deeply connected to both Mexico and Canada, but found herself caught between versions of who she was. After stepping away from music following the pandemic, she realized the parts of herself she'd been trying to outrun hadn't disappeared—they were simply waiting. The result is Lo Claroscuro, an album that embraces life's contradictions instead of trying to resolve them. Named after the artistic concept of light and shadow existing together, the record explores identity, healing, and self-acceptance through songs that naturally move between English and Spanish. Produced alongside longtime collaborator Jon Drew and featuring contributions from friends and fellow musicians including members of Magneta Lane, The Balconies, Controller Controller, SeaDaisy, and Neverending White Lights, Lo Claroscuro is Lexi's most honest work to date—a record that doesn't choose between the different parts of who she is, but finally lets them exist together.

The album's upcoming single, "Nina Feliz," captures that same spirit of acceptance with warmth, vulnerability, and quiet confidence. Blending intimate songwriting with lush indie-pop textures, the song reflects on the complicated process of finding joy after a period of uncertainty, recognizing that happiness isn't about leaving the past behind but learning to carry it differently. It's a fitting introduction to Lo Claroscuro, showcasing Lexi Valentine's ability to turn deeply personal experiences into songs that feel universal. Honest without being heavy and hopeful without losing sight of life's complexities, "Nina Feliz" marks the beginning of a new creative chapter built on authenticity rather than reinvention.
