Lice new EP 'It All Worked Out Great Vol.1 & Vol.2

Twice we’ve span around the Sun, dear friends, since LICE emerged from Bristol’s artistic community and embarked on a historic, noble crusade that would bring aural discomfort and cultural enlightenment to the masses. Verily, Vapour Trail spoke earnestly in calling them “one of the most exciting things to happen in the history of Western art”.

Drawing influence from an abrasive clutch of early post-punk groups such as Psychic TV, Pere Ubu and Public Image Ltd., LICE’s lyrics deal with subjects such as xenophobia and misogyny through first-person monologues and short-stories (designed to confront listeners with their own hateful impulses and biases).The crusade was established with a string of incendiary DIY shows (including a Halloween show in a 13th century crypt) and support slots for The Fall and The Fat White Family. After seizing the capital, LICE’s debut release ‘NUTMILK: The Basement Demos’ (comprising four demos recorded in their drummer’s basement) won the hearts of many further afield, leading to tour dates with brothers-in-arms IDLES, Spectres and Bad Breeding.

In April 2017, LICE became the first release on Big Score Records with standalone single ‘The Human Parasite’. Paired with a music-video featuring fellow Bristol artists such as Oliver Wilde, Scalping and Jesuits, this noble talisman won high-praise from the likes of DIY and Loud and Quiet, receiving plays on Radio 1, Radio 6 and Beats 1. Following historic summer shows with Psychic TV and The Rebel, as well as festival appearances at Glastonbury and Green Man, LICE rounded off the year with a co-headline tour of the UK, joined by label-mates YOWL.

By the start of 2018, LICE had signed to Balley Records, a label run by Joe Talbot from IDLES. Through this historic partnership, they would finally release their first 12": a double EP released in two volumes, named 'It All Worked Out Great'. This 'early years' collection features the songs that have comprised LICE’s live set for the past two years, having been honed, changed and finally completed. Lead single ‘Stammering Bill’, with a video created by the band themselves, appeared on April 5th, quickly winning praise from the likes of Steve Lamacq, The Guardian & DIY. Ahead of the full record's release on the 24th of May with a run of headline shows in Bristol, Brighton and London, LICE were chosen as IDLES' sole support on the Unity Tour, and are currently on tour playing venues such as London's Heaven and Paris' La Trabendo.
