Lightroom announces exclusive Moonwalkers ticket offer as NASA lunar mission Artemis II prepares for launch
As the world looks toward the stars for NASA’s Artemis II mission—the first crewed voyage to the Moon in over half a century—London’s immersive landmark, Lightroom, today announces a limited-time ticket offer for its epic production, The Moonwalkers: A Journey With Tom Hanks.
In a tribute to the golden age of lunar exploration, adult tickets will be priced at just 19.72, commemorating 1972, the final year humans left near-earth orbit during Apollo 17. To inspire the next generation of explorers, Lightroom is also launching a "Kids Go Free" initiative, with one child entering free with every paying adult.
The offer runs from 1–14 February 2026, timed for the Artemis II launch (date dependent on conditions, between 6-11 February) and the lead-up to the school half-term. Artemis II marks a pivotal moment in human history; four astronauts will complete a 10-day lunar flyby aboard the Orion spacecraft to test life-support and navigation systems.
Structured around newly-recorded interviews between Tom Hanks and the Artemis II crew, which took place in 2023, The Moonwalkers captures the wonder and awe that gripped the whole world in the Apollo era and adds a uniquely human perspective - what this history means and how it feels for the four humans - Reid Wiseman, Christina Koch, Victor Glover and Jeremy Hansen - who will next make the trip to our closest celestial neighbour
Written and narrated by Tom Hanks alongside co-writer Christopher Riley, The Moonwalkers transforms Lightroom’s vast space into a spectacular lunar landscape. Using original NASA footage and breathtaking images from Andy Saunders’ Apollo Remastered, the production—directed by Nick Corrigan and Lysander Ashton of 59 Productions—reimagines the Apollo missions at an extraordinary scale.
The experience is underscored by an original orchestral score by Anne Nikitin (HIJACK, American Animals). Hanks, a lifelong space advocate and former board member of the National Space Society, brings his unparalleled expertise to the project. Having produced From the Earth to the Moon and starred in Apollo 13, Hanks describes this production as his most visceral storytelling venture yet.
Richard Slaney, CEO of Lightroom and Producer of The Moonwalkers, said: “When we made The Moonwalkers we knew that we wanted to include the next generation of humans to journey to the moon, and over the past 2 years we’ve had the privilege and fun of spending time with the crew of Artemis II. It’s hard to believe that their mission is almost ready to launch and that we’ll watch on as our friends become the first people since the 1970s to travel back to the moon, and journey further away from Earth than any human in history.
“We’ve seen an incredible reception from audiences of all generations to The Moonwalkers. Over the past 2 years we’ve reached a global audience of more than 700,000 people, with many moved to tears by the sheer scale of the Apollo footage and the story of human collaboration and endeavour.
“To be telling this story at the exact moment the Artemis II crew is preparing to leave Earth’s orbit is a 'pinch-me' moment for our entire team. We wanted to celebrate this new giant leap by making the experience as accessible as possible. By offering tickets at 19.72—the year we last stood on the lunar surface—and opening our doors to the next generation with our ‘Kids Go Free’ initiative, we’re inviting everyone to witness history as it happens. Seeing our audience connect with the Artemis astronauts large on our walls while they are actually up there in their tiny spacecraft is something truly special.”
Tom Hanks said on the release of The Moonwalkers: “Growing up as humankind was first going to the moon, I was transfixed by the Apollo missions and dreamed of making the voyages with the astronauts. I’ve worked on several projects that have attempted to bring alive the breath-taking scale of going to the moon and the razor-edge drama of each journey, each chapter of Apollo. The extraordinary and unique production capabilities of Lightroom allow me, alongside Christopher Riley, to tell what we believe is the most visceral and enthralling story to date of humanity’s journeys beyond our earth, including a unique insight into the next time human beings will walk on the moon: the Artemis missions.”
