Lip Talk Gets Her Hair Cut By The Devil & An Angel In New Video For “More”

LIP TALK–the solo moniker of Sarah K. Pedinotti, an experimental pop producer, multi-instrumentalist, and singer-songwriter based in Brooklyn, New York—today, shared a new single and music video “More”, a psychedelic song about a deep restlessness that accompanies the craving for more excitement, more experiences, more things—and the impact these longings have on our experience of the present moment. Listen and watch the video here.

“It’s about trying to hold onto things, while the world rapidly and relentlessly changes. It’s about life under consumer capitalism,” says Pedinotti on the song made as part of her ongoing writing experiment called ‘These Are Photographs,’ where Pedinotti writes songs while meditating on a single image. The inspiration for “More” came from a photograph submitted by her friend and former bandmate, Ian Chang.

The track arrives alongside a self-directed music video, which Pedinotti explains: “Getting my hair cut is about releasing the things I’m holding on to. Using bright colors to contrast the black-and-white photo by Ian Chang, we created a dream world of cosmological camp that gestures towards a world beyond capitalism. Shot in my sister’s backyard, last June during quarantine and featuring all family members including the cinematographer, Amanda Picotte, my cousin.”

LIP TALK is a frequent collaborator and player in numerous bands, including Kalbells, Hayley Williams, Okkervil River, and The Secret Machines, as well as a songwriter for the band, Cuddle Magic and Benjamin Lazar Davis. She’s spent the past few years juggling being a session musician, producing her first solo album, and touring internationally, sharing stages with many including, The Roots, NaS, Little Dragon, Esperanza Spaulding, Interpol, and The Wynton Marsalis Lincoln Center Band.
