L’Objectif share their first new music of 2026 with ‘Walking Home (From The City)’
Leeds’ L’OBJECTIF share their first new music of 2026 with ‘Walking Home (From The City)’(video here), out today (September 29th) via cult indie label Dance To The Radio (Twin Atlantic, Ellur, Far Caspian).
Rejuvenated with the addition of two new band members ( 50% of their lineup) - Abe Hussain (guitar) and Sam Hudson (bass) - the indie risers reveal their true, long-term ambitions on their scintillating new effort; ‘Walking Home (From The City)’ serves as an immediate powerhouse indie rock romp that pulls as much from The 1975 as it does from indie darlings (and previous touring partners) Geese. The unadulterated joy and creativity on display throughout tackles themes of friendship and camaraderie which truly shine through; all without trampling on frontman Saul Kane’s cathartic coming-of-age journey ever-present throughout the under belly of the tune.

Detailing the single, Kane added: “This track is dedicated to my friends, my formative teenage years and the realisation that it is somewhere I can no longer return to. At the time of writing I started to think a lot about those memories from around 16-20, as I experienced them become more sacred and important to me than I could ever really imagine. I’d never really felt a strong yearn for the past before so it was quite an uncomfortable sensation. I think this song has helped me process a lot of things that happened In that period, although I think it was important not to create a solemn musical landscape for the lyrics, as I wanted to demonstrate the elements of energy, life and happiness that those memories will always bring me.”
With widespread acclaim throughout all corners of the press landscape (The Observer, The Sunday Times, NME, DIY, Dork, The Line Of Best Fit, Rolling Stone UK, Rough Trade more), as well as a previous BBC 6 Music playlist spot and key radio champions in the form of Steve Lamacq, Amy Lamé, Iggy Pop, Jack Saunders (BBC Radio 1) and Matt Wilkinson (Apple Music), L’OBJECTIF are primed to release further new music and live dates imminently, with full details set to follow soon.
