Los Angeles darkwave trio Chalice Sect unveils electronic post-punk EP Finis Initii

After several singles that left their mark on the current dark music landscape, Los Angeles’ up-and-coming electronic darkwave trio Chalice Sect has returned with their first full-length EP. Finis Initii showcases the band’s first sonic incarnation as new torchbearers of the electronic darkwave scene. With pulsating beats, dancefloor-insistent melodrama, and dynamic guitars, Finis Initii offers modern goth clubgoers much to sink their teeth into. With four tracks, including the two-part saga of “Take Me There,” Chalice Sect creates a charged post-punk sound energized by the mechanized propulsion of EBM and dark electro.

Daniel of Chalice Sect says, "Finis Initii — Latin for ‘the end of the beginning’ — represents the closing of the first chapter of Chalice Sect. The EP brings together the remaining songs I wrote during that period but had not yet released, alongside the two previously released singles. These tracks were written over the past few years and belong to an earlier phase of the project, both creatively and sonically. Bringing them together on this release gives that era a proper conclusion while creating space for what comes next: a newer sound and perhaps a different direction for Chalice Sect.”

BIO: Chalice Sect is a darkwave project from Los Angeles, drawing from post-punk, new wave, and dark electro while maintaining a modern electronic edge. Built around driving basslines, synth-heavy arrangements, and direct songwriting, the music balances atmosphere with momentum. Rather than leaning on nostalgia, Chalice Sect focuses on clarity, rhythm, and energy — creating songs that reference classic influences without sounding dated, and delivering a sound that is both recognizable and current.
