Luc Van Acker reboot The Ship Rebuilt 2015

On Friday February 17, 2012, I played my solo album “THE SHIP” at the AB Brussels as requested by Kurt Overbergh for his project “REWIND”. This required the entire album to be played in the exact song order and as close to the original recording as possible. I hadn’t played any of these songs for over 28 years or longer, apart from the song “Zanna”.

It took David Vandenborn and myself months to get all the music ready to perform on stage before we could invite all the wonderful musicians who took part in this adventure. That same year we also played several summer festivals with this amazing line up. I realized the songs benefited from all the musicians performing together on stage in contrast to the album tracks where all instruments were recorded individually. Also, some parts that were forgotten or didn’t make it onto the first version resurfaced and were thrown back in the mix. Like the backing vocal in “Zanna” and sax and percussion solos.

We were so happy with this “Rebuilt SHIP 2015” version, we felt the need to re-record the entire album staying close to a live feel. But, with a touched up sound without losing the original vibe. For all you people who came to see us these new versions are a souvenir and they are something to look forward to for everybody who’ll come to experience us live in the future.
