Maro releases new single I GRIEVE YOU

MARO releases I GRIEVE YOU from her new album, SO MUCH HAS CHANGED. This record marks the beginning of a new chapter in the career of one of the most distinctive and respected voices in contemporary Portuguese music. SO MUCH HAS CHANGED emerges from a period of profound personal and artistic transformation. It is a work shaped by introspection, gratitude, and an awareness of the journey travelled so far.

After an impressive trajectory that has taken her from intimate venues to the world’s biggest stages, MARO continues to make her mark beyond borders. In 2025, she entered Spotify’s global Top 10 of artists most listened to by other artists, a rare recognition that underscores her impact and influence within the global music community.

The album SO MUCH HAS CHANGED follows a career built on defining moments, from her international breakthrough with “saudade, saudade”, the winning song at Festival da Canção and a Top 10 entry at Eurovision 2022, to the acclaimed album hortelã (2023), which received the José Afonso Award for Portuguese Album of the Year. Along the way, MARO has never left the road, performing worldwide and sharing the stage with artists such as Jacob Collier, Patrick Watson, Odesza, Parcels and Shawn Mendes, forging a solid and consistent path.

In this new work, the artist deepens her musical language, exploring new sonic textures and emotional narratives without ever losing the authenticity that has established her as one of today’s leading artists.

SO MUCH HAS CHANGED is, above all, an honest portrait of who MARO is today and of the path she continues to build.

MARO will take SO MUCH HAS CHANGED on a World Tour, with confirmed dates in countries as Portugal, Germany, France, Spain, the UK and USA.

Biography

MARO is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and producer from Lisbon, Portugal. After graduating from Berklee College of Music (Boston), she debuted in 2018 with the release of five albums and an EP. She later joined Jacob Collier’s worldwide DJESSE tour as a member of the band. Over these years, MARO has opened for artists such as Jessie J, Gipsy Kings, Charlotte Cardin and The Paper Kites.

In 2020, she created ITSAME, MARO!, a collaborative series of 100 episodes featuring artists from around the world, including Eric Clapton, Pablo Alborán, Lizzy McAlpine, Ivan Lins, Vitor Kley, ANAVITÓRIA, Sílvia Pérez Cruz, Maria Gadú, Mayra Andrade, Rui Veloso and Lennon Stella.

MARO won Festival da Canção and represented Portugal at Eurovision in 2022 with “saudade, saudade”, achieving a Top 10 finish. She later released can you see me?, an album blending pop, trap, world music and folk influences.

In April 2023, she released hortelã, an acoustic trio album with Catalan guitarists Darío Barroso and Pau Figueres. Sung mostly in Portuguese, the album received the José Afonso Award for Portuguese Album of the Year.

Following their collaboration on the PIRILAMPO EP, MARO and NASAYA released LIFELINE in 2024, introducing a more electronic sound that marked a shift from her previous album.

MARO has been touring for the past three years, performing to sold-out venues around the world with both the acoustic trio and the electronic duo. She has shared stages with Jacob Collier, Odesza, Parcels, Patrick Watson, and opened multiple arenas on Shawn Mendes’ summer tour.
