“Ira & Traición”, an Andean battle between light and darkness

Memorias de un Despertar, a multinational musical and literary project headed by Peruvian writer Marcel Verand, has just released its third album entitled “Ira & Traición” which features the participation of 33 musicians from various countries, including Peru, Argentina, Chile, Spain, Mexico, Finland, Spain, Venezuela and Canada, among others. This new milestone is accompanied by the lyric video of ‘Encrucijada’, an epic and theatrical song that marks the breaking point in the narrative: betrayal and the internal struggle between duty and blood ties.

In “Ira & Traición”, the battle between light and darkness takes place in the Andes, where six brothers, children of the gods of the mountains, are forged by destiny. “Divided between gold and silver, their kinship is put to the test when Illapa, the god of thunder, imposes on them an impossible mission: to finish off Ranra Orqo, the firstborn of the silver mountain, consumed by revenge. Between betrayals, epic battles and moral dilemmas, the story immerses us in a world where mythology and metal collide with overwhelming force,” explains Verand.

This new work consolidates Memorias de un Despertar as an important Latin American metal opera. Each of its productions corresponds to the trilogy of books written and published by Marcel Verand and which serve as a script for the plot of each album. Their debut in 2021 with “Ira & Sacrificio” managed to add many plays and followers from many places thanks to the quality of the songs, musical arrangements and the stellar participation of talented and diverse musicians from so many different parts of the world.
