More new names for Summer Breeze 2017

Summer Breeze keeps adding new names to its line-up:

In Extremo: As we all know, you celebrate a birthday not only with your own family, but also with good friends, which is why IN EXTREMO are high up on the guest list!

And, as a present, the medieval rockers will not only bring a special setlist to Dinkelsbühl, but they will play exactly their 1,000th show at SUMMER BREEZE! Well, let us just say congratulations for such persistence. This double anniversary/birthday party in Dinklesbühl will be a unique celebration, which will enter the annals of our festival with loads of special effects and pyros, but also with many cold beverages consumed. At the end of the day, IN EXTREMO have already provided the motto: 'Sternhagelvoll'. So be it! Cheers!

Memoriam: Namedropping alert! Karl Willetts (Bolt Thrower), Frank Healy (Benediction, Sacrilege), Andy Whale (ex-Bolt Thrower) and Scott Fairfax (ex-Life Denied, Benediction) are coming to SUMMER BREEZE as MEMORIAM.

Enough said for true death metallers, but for everyone else, here's a short introduction: MEMORIAM is the new field of activity of the above mentioned musicians, founded to honour the memory of Bolt Thrower drummer Kiddie Kearns, who sadly passed away. After only one 7” the band was signed by Nuclear Blast straight away, who will release the debut album 'For The Fallen' in March 2017. With the musicians involved there is obviously no denying a musical proximity to the almighty Bolt Thrower, and that's a good thing! If you're into the ultimate steamroller tank sound, MEMORIAM is for you, so check them out at their SUMMER BREEZE debut in Dinkelsbühl next August!

Terror: Unfortunately TERROR had to cancel their appearance in 2016 due to an injury, but the guys are keeping their word and will be in Dinkelsbühl for our anniversary, healthy and fully motivated.

As one of the hardest touring bands on the planet, this is a question of honour for the L.A. bunch. Scott Vogel and his crew are not only famous for stage banter such as “can I have more stage dives on my monitor?”, but also for an unmeasurable load of energy in their songs. They go for it from the first second of the first song. This is HARDCORE after all! In the course of their evolution, TERROR have increased the metal component on each album, but that's not the only reason why the band is a perfect fit for SUMMER BREEZE. Because TERROR also write real anthems that work perfectly on the bigger stages. Get ready for an action-laden show with THE flagship of modern hardcore.

Revocation: How cool is this? REVOCATION will play SUMMER BREEZE Open Air 2017 and prove the following theory: “Constantly high quality can not get boring!”

One could wonder how far the band led by David Davidso can still go?! In Dinkelsbühl, all fans of death and thrash metal can see for themselves. Each release since their formation in 2006 has placed the Americans one step higher in the metal pantheon. Their groove pins you to the closest wall and the super quick guitar melodies give you the rest. High-speed death metal solos will resound while countless horns are raised towards the sky over SUMMER BREEZE, giving the East Coast quartet an indelible memory that they can only live in Central Franconia. It's going to be great!

Moonspell: Who would have thought that it could get so dark in Lisbon, and that it would even stay that way for a quarter century?! MOONSPELL's year of formation, 1992, even lies five years before the first SUMMER BREEZE Open Air, but both MOONSPELL and SUMMER BREEZE are integral parts of the metal scene, which is why a visit of the Portuguese in Dinkelsbühl seems more than appropriate.

The band led by frontman Fernando Ribeiro have a reputation for first-class live shows and surely one or two aces up their sleeve for their 25th anniversary. Look forward to a dark yet gripping and energetic 25-year anniversary show by MOONSPELL at the SUMMER BREEZE birthday party.

Possessed: Cult! Please join us in welcoming the godfathers of the death metal genre, POSSESSED, who will be our guests at SUMMER BREEZE Open Air for the very first time!

With their 1984 demo 'Death Metal' POSSESSED undoubtedly wrote music history. Even though specialists still argue whether death / Mantas or POSSESSED gave this charming genre its name, it is a fact that POSSESSED were among the pioneers of this extreme style of metal. No band, from Tampa to Stockholm, can deny the lasting influence of their über-debut 'Seven Churches'. Old headbangers (like the author of this text) still get a series of cold shivers when listening to songs like 'The Exorcist' or 'Fallen Angel' – just make that the whole album – even for the one thousandth time, and their homes get close to total destruction. Perhaps nowadays not everyone is familiar with the band, who have been active in different line-ups since 1983, but especially those people are urged to check out this cult band. At the end of the day, Jeff Becerra and POSSESSED are no less than a true legend. And now join me: “Arise from the dead and attack from the grave, the killing won't stop until first light...”

Knorkator: Another band that are guarantee for a huge party are now confirmed for SUMMER BEEZE: Ladies and gentlemen, Germany's most band in the world, KNORKATOR!

It is gonna feel fresh, pious, jolly and free, when the Berlin band take the stage in their inimitable way and fire a potpourri of their biggest hits into the crowd. It goes without saying that there will be no dry eye in the house and no un-dislocated joint in the band, because, at the end of the day, Alf Ator, Stumpen and the rest have a reputation to ruin! As a very special gag, the guys re bringing an extended female band with them, so the SUMMER BREEZE show will be one of those rare occasions to see KNORKATOR in action with classical string and brass instruments. And you can bet the combo will be worth seeing, so be there!

Primal Fear: 20 years of unadulterated heavy metal – 20 years of Swabian steel... PRIMAL FEAR will be celebrating their anniversary in 2017, so we will throw a double-happy-happy party together!

By now, the Swabians can look back on a staggering eleven albums, having obviously established themselves as a big name in German heavy metal. With over 20 years of live experience under their belts, Mat Sinner and his cohorts will light a deafening fireworks display of classics in Dinkelsbühl that will leave no neck unmoved and no fist un-raised. Celebrate a loud birthday party with PRIMAL FEAR in Dinkelsbühl, because someone who has been delivering consistently high quality for two decades deserves more than just a birthday pie.

Whitechapel: This next confirmation is equal to a good beating, because WHITECHAPEL have announced they are coming!

Hailing from Knoxville, Tennessee, the band led by screaming Phil Bozeman has got a reputation for being a great live act, a status they have cemented during many tours through the old world. So all fans of modern death metal / deathcore should start getting in shape, because at the WHITECHAPEL show in Dinkelsbühl there will not only be energy draining mosh pits en masse, but also stage divers flying through the air every second. This means you have to be prepared, otherwise you will only be a witness and not a protagonist. And who would NOT want to experience the songs off the new, crushing album 'Mark Of The Blade' from the very front? You know it...

Fit For An Autopsy: FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY are really pissed off and about to unleash their rage. A dark entity is spreading its deathcore and death metal wings and heading straight to the abyss. These Americans deliver an apocalyptic soundtrack that will resound over Dinkelsbühl.

Herewith we announce a demolition that will stay with you for a long time. Does this sound promising? It should! What was already hinting on their 2013 album 'Hellbound' was carved in stone with 2015's 'Absolute Hope Absolute Hell'. FIT FOR AN AUTOPSY have arrived at the top of the deathcore world and are casting dark clouds over the globe. What they deliver is misanthropic lyrics and destructive sounds, so finely tuned and precisely executed that their show at SUMMER BREEZE 2017 should be a mandatory date for many of you.

Amorphis: Gentlemen, rejoice, because one more of your favourite bands is going to take part in our birthday party: AMORPHIS!

The guys from up north will bring along a best-of setlist that won't leave anything to be desired! At the end of the day, AMORPHIS know that their melodic tunes are welcome with open arms at SUMMER BREEZE, which is proven by the euphoric reactions their shows in Dinkelsbühl have repeatedly gained. There's no room for discussion: AMORPHIS simply belong in the SUMMER BREEZE birthday programme. The fact that the Finns will play a set across their entire history, including their biggest hits, is a gift that we – and surely you, too – will happily accept. So don't miss this!
