My Mom Is Here Share New Single "The Lucky Dudes

New York-based pop-rock band My Mom Is Here unveil "The Lucky Dudes (Extended Version),” an expanded seven-minute reimagining of their retro-leaning love song that highlights the full scope of the band’s live sound.

Written by vocalist Samantha Seiff about her relationship with bandmate Nick Sare (keys), “The Lucky Dudes” captures the experience of falling in love young and choosing to trust it, even in the face of outside doubt. The song mirrors the band’s own dynamic, where love and collaboration go hand in hand. “It’s about choosing to believe that maybe you really are just ‘the lucky dudes’ who met their person early on,” Seiff shares.

Recorded at Power Station at BerkleeNYC, the release marks the second installment in a three-song capsule produced, arranged, and conducted by Terence “T” Odonkor. Drawing on Odonkor's Broadway orchestration background, they approached the session with scale in mind from the outset, bringing in horns, strings, and layered background vocals, alongside a standout group of session musicians including Chiara Fasi (SZA, Doja Cat), Kai Sandoval (Kelly Clarkson, Ripe), and Clérida Etime (Sienna Spiro, The War and Treaty).

“‘The Lucky Dudes’ is, at heart, a retro-leaning pop love song, but in the recording process it became something much more maximal and orchestral,” Seiff explains. “When we made the ‘radio edit,’ we ended up cutting a lot of what made the session feel special, so the 7-minute version really showcases the live energy and lets the arrangement unfold.”

That live energy has been central to My Mom Is Here since their earliest days. Formed in 2023 by Seiff and Sare—who met in a jazz a cappella group at Columbia University—the band played their first show on a Morningside Heights rooftop wearing matching “My Mom Is Here” t-shirts, a tongue-in-cheek nod to Sare’s mother, who famously attended every one of his previous gigs. The name stuck, and so did the sense of humor.

Since then, the project has grown from its original duo into a full live band known for high-energy performances, sharp musicianship, and an ethos that balances technical precision with genuine feeling. In 2025 they released their debut EP Baby Steps and embarked on their first US tour.

With the Power Station capsule, the band pushes their sound further, scaling up their arrangements without losing the chemistry that defines them. The series began with a shorter radio edit of "The Lucky Dudes" released on Valentine’s Day, while this extended version restores the full arrangement. The final installment, a reimagined take on Steve Winwood’s “Can’t Find My Way Home,” is set to release in June.
