New names for Summer Breeze

As promised, Summer Breeze added new names to the line-up for 2017 in the past few days. Bands that will join the 20th anniversary part are:

Gorguts: Few bands have as much experience as Canada's GORGUTS. They have never been prone to trend-hopping and quickly reserved a place among the world elite of their genre. The Canadians played an important part in the first wave of death metal, and over the years they have turned into one of the most progressive and influential bands in extreme metal.

At SUMMER BREEZE 2017 the men led by Luc Lemay will show what all the hype is about. There will be balanced yet super heavy death metal fare that is not easily digestible, but from which Dinkelsbühl will feed for a long time. Because when something as heavy as GORGUTS rolls through Franconia, it will leave its mark. And you can witness it all.

August Burns Red: Fancy something heavy, yet melodic? Then the next addition to our birthday party should be right up your alley: AUGUST BURNS RED are coming to join the celebration!

From a high school band to an established name in the modern metal scene, AUGUST BURNS RED surely can't complain about their career so far. After all, they've been in business for 13 years already, so Jake Luhrs and his boys know exactly what the perfect symbiosis between metallic power and sickly sweet melodies has to sound like. Enriched with energetic stage acting, AUGUST BURNS RED are summoning all current and aspiring metalcore fans for an unmissable date. Get your throats warmed up to sing along and prepare your tired bones for some brutal mosh pit action!

Delain: Dutch girl power is always welcome at our festival, which is why we have invited the Netherlands' DELAIN to Dinkelsbühl for 2017.

Born somewhat out of necessity, the bombastic symphonic metal group have long established themselves as a major name, something that cannot solely be attributed to their accomplished compositions, but also to the characteristic voice of their charming singer Charlotte Wessels, who manages to put her stamp of identity on the band, both on record and live. And that the band has long left behind the dull gothic/symphonic shtick is something not only their last studio album 'Moonbathers' is proof of, but that the Dutch will also prove in Dinkelsbühl in 2017.

Obituary: To praise the next confirmed band excessively would be like taking hipsters to the next barber shop: Gentlemen, Florida death metal icons OBITUARY are coming to SUMMER BREEZE!

Trevor Peres and co. are bringing along their new studio album, which – according to first reports – is a real killer. Anyway, during their long career OBITUARY have surely written enough first-class hits to fill a whole evening. So there's no worry at all about their show in Dinkelsbühl, because the Tardy brothers know exactly what their fan base is after: the highlights of an uncompromising career in Florida death metal such as 'Slowly We Rot', 'Don't Care', 'Cause Of Death', etc. etc. etc... Don't miss 'em!

Havok: Thrash metal never gets old, does it?! A few years ago, a whole wave of young, hungry thrash bands saw the light of day, and the following confirmed band was there, leading the pack: Colorado's HAVOK!

Hailing from Denver, the band can already look back on a 12-year career, in which they have managed to convince countless fans with their youthful spirit and straight-ahead thrash metal. At their SUMMER BREEZE debut the guys want to prove that the good old thrash is far from dead yet and is still a lot of fun – especially live. Check out this combo and support HAVOK in their endeavour and you will be able to go home happy and fulfilled.

Sonata Arctica: The ninth hour starts at SUMMER BREEZE 2017: after several years of absence, SONATA ARCTICA finally return to our favourite festival!

Under their belts, the masters of melodic power metal have their new album 'The Ninth Hour', which perfectly highlights all of the Finns' trademarks. However, with the extensive discography SONATA ARCTICA have amassed, the Finns will probably not just rely on new hits, but invite you on a trip along memory lane, which should make fans of their earlier material happy, too. If you like your metal melodic and catchy, you should put the SONATA ARCTICA show on your to-do list as a must-do.

Der Weg Einer Freiheit: Nowadays DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT can easily be considered one of the big names in the European metal scene, far beyond the confines of brutal and melodic black metal.

Tours alongside Shining, Downfall Of Gaia and Moonspell have made clear that the band is exceptionally manifold. We are proud to be able to welcome them again in Dinkelsbühl with new songs from their upcoming album.

If you want to be hypnotised by the super precise blastbeats of one of the scene's most ambitious drummers, look no further than Tobias Schuler. Mastermind Nikita Kamprad's melodies, song structures and highly aesthetic songwriting, on the other hand, grip you so tight that you forget about time and space. DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT have got what it takes to captivate large masses without sounding contrived or acting fake. Become a witness of how powerfully and ceremoniously a band can express “Weltschmerz”, decay and mourning with their music at SUMMER BREEZE 2017.

Chelsea Grin: The next band confirmation is not for the faint of heart – but rather for the moshpit warriors amongst you... CHELSEA GRIN are coming to SUMMER BREEZE 2017!

Hailing from Salt Lake City, this deathcore band will cause a massive piling up of human bodies in the pit, but not only with the tracks from their new album 'Self Inflicted'. The older breakdown massacres penned by Alex Koehler and his bandmates will induce a tumultuous open-air work out in Dinkelsbühl too. CHELSEA GRIN's hard, uncompromising songs, paired with huge riffs and unbelievable vocals, will take the hardest among you to nirvana next August. Promised!
