Grinn release their debut EP Silence

UK alternative metal newcomers GRINN are making their mark with a sound that sits somewhere between crushing modern metal, ’90s nu-metal, grunge and progressive alternative rock. Now, the band are set to introduce that sound in full with their debut EP, Silence, out September 18th.

Across its nine tracks, Silence captures a band unafraid to explore the extremes of their sound, moving between crushing riffs, thunderous drums, soaring melodies and ferocious vocals. From the raw intensity of ‘Easier To Hurt’ and ‘All Gone To Shit’ through to the atmospheric weight of ‘And All In Vain’ and ‘Look Yonder At That Mountain’, GRINN create a constant push and pull between vulnerability and aggression.

At the centre of that dynamic is the contrast between Cameron Warren’s clean vocals and Federico Spera’s visceral screams. Their interplay allows GRINN to shift effortlessly from moments of melodic vulnerability to outright ferocity, giving the EP an emotional depth that sits alongside its heavier instincts.

That contrast is particularly evident on ‘Control’, a track built around the idea of relinquishing control. Inspired by the relationship between dominance, submission and escapism, the song explores the idea of surrender as a means of escaping the pressures and expectations of everyday life.

As Silence progresses, GRINN continue to blur the lines between melody and heaviness, with tracks such as ‘Hold The Knife’ and ‘Silence’ adding further weight to an EP that feels deliberately unpredictable. Closing with ‘Untitled’, the release leaves the listener with a final sense of ambiguity, perfectly suited to a band whose music thrives on tension and contrast.

Progressive, vulnerable and unapologetically heavy, Silence marks the beginning of GRINN’s story — introducing a band unwilling to be confined by the boundaries of modern alternative metal and establishing a sonic identity that is distinctly their own.
