New single "Candle" by The Great Communicators releases on november 6th

On Friday November 6th Dutch band The Great Communicators will release their newest single ‘Candle’. It is the third single from the album ‘The Endless Haze’, which will be released early 2021. The band went through hell to get where they are now and are armed with a new groovy sound.

The Great Communicators kicked off in 2014 with a well-received debut EP and a full tour schedule. There seems to be no limit for the band until the roaring machine comes to a halt when vocalist Gaia Slotboom quits the band, and frontman Arend Dijkstra isn't able to make new material quickly enough due to a writer’s block. Nevertheless, Dijkstra believes in the strength of the band and finds reliance among his band members. With the new and very dynamic addition of Linda van Leeuwen as singer they went back into the studio.

‘Candle’ originated from a melody. “It's about persistence, or an impending burnout”. Singer and songwriter Arend Dijkstra is not quite sure about that yet; "It is open to interpretation". But it is clearly groovy, filled with bongos and percussion.

In the past, The Great Communicators toured the Netherlands during the Popronde (with 30 shows in three months), played at Eurosonic Noorderslag, were named ‘Talent’ by one of NL's biggest radio stations 3FM, did their own headline tour through the NL, and played as support act for the well known rock band Kensington in the Ziggo Dome. On the new album influences from Beck, Arcade Fire and LCD Soundsystem among others, all melding together in a sweltering vortex pulling the listener through a house of mirrors filled with unexpected twists and turns. You’ll hear driving drum and bass grooves that carry all the colourful yet razor sharp guitar- and key melodies together with swinging percussion and energetic vocals. The Great Communicators and their new sound are a force to be reckoned with.
